Setting Initial kuid number for new version

Hello All,

I was wondering - this has come up before for sure, I presume - is there a way to set the initial value for new added assets in a new version of trainz. I noticed that I kept my original author-id in ts2010, but the initial number starts again at 1001. Is it enough to one time change it manually to a higher entry so it starts counting up from there, or is it more complicated than that.

The easiest way to get a kuid of your choice with '10, that I've found, is to create the asset the normal way, and DON'T commit it - trainz ('10) won't let you change the kuid using this method, so never mind. Once you've gotten the basic config.txt data filed out, rather than committing it, change the kuid to the value you want, and then copy the files from the editing folder to someplace else on your hard disk... Now delete the initial (open for edit) asset from CM3.2. Once it's deleted, use 'Import Content' from the location you copied to, and the new asset will come in with the kuid you specify in the config.txt.

It's annoying, and you need to do it for every asset you create, but it works.

Hmm, quite rigourous attempt to force an update of all your created content it seems.

The simple answer is no for 09/10, see this thread.

So, if I understood that thread correctly you either have to import all your previous created content first so those numbers aren't available anymore, or you have to change the number by hand for the rest of ts2010 sp2's lifecycle.
I would allmost say; "Can someone fire the genius that came up with that upgrade idea", but I won't. :hehe:
