Does anyone here know of a way to set the priorities of trains before they emerge from portals?

I think you could do this using a track mark and a wait for... command.

Setup in the driver commands to drive to a particular track mark. When the train gets to that location, have the train wait for n number of seconds, minutes, etc.

I use the wait for command all the time to delay the rush of the trains leaving my passenger terminal when I first start me driving session.

I think there is a set_priority rule (or similar) on the DLS which will do what you ask in the driver bar of the loco, so you tell the driver to set the priority to whatever as their first command.

Look for a rule called "priorityz" on the DLS by smileyman.
