service packs

finally some progress!

ok, so I got it to work with service pack 1. At first it would freeze up when I went to start game but then a thing popped up from my security saying that an unknown file was updated and trying to access the internet. Turns out it was the trainz.exe file and all I had to do was set it to always allow access and now it works with no problem. So next I`ll have to try to patch it with the auto updates.

Software firewalls do tend to pop up messages like that when files that were previously allowed internet access are updated, so it'll likely happen again after patching to SP2. This helps make sure that if a program gets modified by a virus, you'll get a confirmation before it's allowed to access the net. Of course it can be inconvenient for Direct X based fullscreen games.

Another SP2 problem

Had to re-install TS2009 and used SP1 okay for 37265 to 38017 ok

Manually run SP2, 38017 to 40040.

After about 30 min get messge "unable to install patch, install aborted" No reasons given?

Can anyone help?

Thanks

Turn of firewall and antivirus before applying patch maybe. Maybe got the wrong build for yours. See if the first one helps and report back

Hi, I'm having a problem with SP4 (Build 44653) for TS2009.

I manually downloaded the patch for SP4 (Build 41844 -> 44653) from the Auran website. It installed just fine on my laptop. It would run great except my computer is pretty much minimum spec.

However, I tried to install it on my parents' computer (which has Windows 7 instead of Vista, don't know if that has anything to do with it, it doesn't SEEM like it) and it aborts and give the reason that the file 1.ja can't be opened. Something about the contents not matching??? I re-downloaded and the same thing happened. And yes, I have the other three Service Packs installed, it does say Build 41844.

I don't want to have to reinstall, it took a whole morning and half an afternoon to get TS2009 and all the SP's installed on that computer :'(

Any advice?

re

Make sure the antivirus is off when you run the patch install it will fight with the ja converter and cause it to abort..... If using Win 7 make sure you run as administrator under properties right click the trainz shortcut I found it easy to install under C:X86 file

ulmer94, unfortunately as your patch has failed during the actual patching process, you must reinstall the game in order to re-attempt the patch.

When doing so, it is best to install the patches with your antivirus off, and without making any content changes (apart from a database repair) between patching.

Hi Guys, after reading the thread I am still at a loss. I have tired posting in a few threads but no one seems to want to answer my question. I bought a copy of ts2009 on dvd. Everything was going great until I was told by just trains to put this patch on which, I did. The bulid number is 40040 but it says it is sp1 for some reason. I am at a lost because, I bought a download version of S&C for me to add to ts2009. It wont load but is this because of the patch not being high enough? But then, as I say when I have tried to update the patch it says something like

This version of Trainz requires the August 2009 release of DirectX9.
The patch can be retried once DirectX is updated.
Patching aborted

And this is 40040 to 41844.

Any ideas guys?

Thanks

Chris

Oh ok thanks will give it a try but, do you think that could be stopping my adding on S&C? Cause I just tried running it as an add on and it works? But keeps saying that my CD Key isnt vaild.

Settle and Carlisle requires at least build 40040, or possibly even 41844.

You will need to add it as a secondary key, which should be a case of entering the key and clicking Add in the Trainz Options box. (If the Add button is not present, you need to patch)
As for the DirectX issue, use the link RRSignal gave you - as I'm usually the one to advise on DirectX, I would have given the same link.

Oh ok, just that I have the patch 40040 but no add button on the options box but, do on S&C. Where would I find the patch for the add button?

A problem

Hi!

I've managed to install 3 of 4 Trainz 2009 SPs, but my 4th has stopped half-way through the installation twice, even though I turned off my anti-virus program and closed all Internet windows etc.

When I found this thread and tried to run the program as Administrator, something went wrong - completely!

First of all, I must be honest and I need to say that I am not that very good when it comes to computers, but I get a error message saying:

"The procedure entry point ?Wait@SyncObject@Jet@@QAA_NK@Z could not be located in the dynamic link library KernelStandard_7c.dll." and because of this message, I can no longer get to the Trainz 2009 Launcher window. I tried to turn of Administrator in the Properties window for this game, but it didn't help.

Is there anything I can do to solve the problem or do I have to reinstall and lose what I've done in the game so far?

I would be very thankful if someone could help me out!

Thanks a lot! :)

/Andreas

(PS! I am a user of Windows 7 64-bit.)

SP1 for Trainz 12 not working

Just installed Trainz 12 and when run it prompted me that there was a patch available, 46957 to 47059. Program currently shows as 46957. When it tries to apply the patch it fails saying it cannot find some temporary files. Manually downloaded patch and tried to apply running as Aministrator it still fails with same message. I have TS2009 and TS2010 already installed and have had no problems patching them when requred. Running Window 7 64 bit. Hundreds of gigs of spare disk space and 8 gig memory. Any clues. Addedfiles.txt, deletedfiles.txt and patchedfiles.txt are the file names. Temporary directory where they are supposed to be does not exist either.

By any chance have you cancelled any of the Trainz patches (by this, I mean manually cancelling, not if it aborted itself)?

If the answer is yes, you must reinstall the game.

Running as administrator should not cause any issues - if anything, it should make it run correctly.

Hi Shane!

First of all, thanks a lot for your response!

Yes, I'm afraid I cancelled the 4th Trainz patch, since it looked like it had stopped at about half-way through in at least a couple of hours.

However, according to the install window, the patch didn't seem to have stopped and still seemed to be installing the patch.

I do not consider myself as an impatient person, but I had started to wonder how long the installation was about to take: Should I think of 4 hours of waiting, half a day, a whole day or perhaps, but hopefully not, more than a day?

I can accept that some things may have gone wrong in my game, but I will give it a try and to reinstall it and the patches first thing I do.

Once again - a great thanks for your help!

Just to let you know, it is normal for the patch to appear to stop about half-way through - this is normal (as long as the patching log does not say Patch Aborted).

The average time for a patch is between 1 and a half and 4 hours, depending on how much content is installed - installing it on a clean copy without any extra content installed should allow it to complete quicker.
