Service Pack 2 Works Good For Default Content

I did a fresh install of Trainz 2009 on a clean XP Pro Sp2 os and reinstalled my content and maps. Thanks to Sp2 now thousands of content is faulty and the ground just dissappears right out from under me in my maps. Draw distance went from ok to Poping in and out. Now all kinds of errors are showing up in the installed content including the default built in content is faulty as well. No solid Custom maps any more. I will be removing the complete Trs2009 and starting over back to the latest patch 38599 as that was the best I had seen trainz look and run. What went wrong with the Sp2 update? did I install it incorrectly?

First of all, how did you re-install your content back in?
Second did you install built-in content from other trainz versions? ...a lot of people did, and then forget to do the same in a new install.
Third did you put in the missing lands like Grate Brittan and Germany, and so on, if so you will have to do it again also what about any independents stuff?

Remember if you where in at the start of TS2009 there where lots of little tweaks that you may have forgotten about.

P.S. copying all the local file into TS2009 just doesn’t work I found the best way was to drag and drop 10 to15 large files in to the CM2 large window, (NOT THE DOWNLOAD WINDOW,) at a time. I found that any more would crash it. And even then I would have to commit them from time to time, to be safe. If you find a better way that doesn’t screw-up the content please let me know.

Thank you for your replies.

:D I will try want you had told me to do. You are more than likely correct I will try your ideas. I did some more testing with Sp2 with the default maps and it seems to work very well. I did install my maps & content from Trs2006 a saved local folder, those maps are the ones that are performing very poorly. I am sorry that I seemed to be whinning over this issue, I just want things to work correctly so I can go on with my map creations. I did what you suggested and uninstalled everything completly and I will try again. If I still have problems I will do a format and start over cleanly. I will keep all of the Trainz team posted as I go. I dearly hope that I was the problem:o and not the Sp2.
 I forgot to mention that also all of the water in all maps are acting very weird. My ponds and lakes are doing a rolling effect that looks like an actual bipmap picture of rectangular lines flowing to the left. This happened after the new Sp2 install.

This is the Phenom 4x 955 Cpu Computer that I was talking about in my earlier posts. I have gone about as far as I can with performance, except building a Core i7 system.

Can I just check this - are you saying that moving the local folder from the previous install (in my case TC3) into the TS09 folder won't lead to these items being recognised by the game and incorporated into assets.tdx (ie. the Trainz database)?

I currently have 16,622 items in my local folder. Are you really saying these have to be dragged and dropped 10-15 at a time into the CMP2 window?

In which case I may be sticking with TC3 rather longer than I envisaged!

Paul (perturbed, as so often, by TS09)

You can do more than 10-15; just the more you do the more time CMP/2 will take tom import/commit them. and the higher the chances of CMP/2 crashing
