SD70ACe-T4 Revealed

Yes, you're right, there is a 265mm bore.

The claim is that this loco delivers 4600 hp at the rail and the 1996 versions EMD SD90MAC, EMD JT56ACe, deliver 6300 hp at the rail.
The 1996 EMD SD90MAC, EMD JT56ACe have 16 cylinders versus the 12 cylinders of this SD70ACe-T4.

So I think climate change and clean air are definitely making inroads to railroading. Most stuff stored in the deserts will go to scrap unless their prime movers can be re-engineered to Tier 4.

I noticed somebody made a Tier-4 slug available on the DLS the other day. <KUID2:359354:101233:1>

Cascading motive power down to yard and local work isn't going to work, according to NS. They say 40 year old locomotives are more reliable than gensets in yard and local work requirements.

Says a lot for the future. (Read the file linked, its interesting reading for the future.)

Last switcher built in 1984
Last 4 axle locomotive was built in 1991

Do small companies like Progress Rail not make regular switchers these days? I'm referring to regular diesels like CAT in refurb bodies not the gensets.

Thanks for info on the Slug, I downloaded and will use on Merge Routes.....I have other Slugs too, and really enjoy using them.

They great in the Yards when moving large sets of Cars around to build a Train, like Tanker Sets etc.
