Save not working?

I have just started playing Trainz 10 again and have noticed the save does not work when i am trying to create my own session on the York - Kings Cross route. I have noticed there is a patch for this from other versions but i am on verison 44088 and there is no patch for this, does anyone have any ideas?

Hehe. Hopefully you're not experiencing the same problem as me.

ECML is a massive route and could take a long time to save, I'm talking 5 minutes or more! If you have given up before that length of time, I'd recommend exercising a little patience and seeing if that resolves your problem.

If this doesn't work, open task manager and see if everything is still running. If it is, chances are it's just a lengthy save and you'll have to live with it. If you're having the same problem as me, you may see something called Taddaemon.exe as well at Trainz showing it's not responding.

Hi, generally what happens is when i press save it will go off within 2 seconds with everything appering to be working fine. However, when i look for the saved session it isnt there and the save hasnt worked at all. Bizzare

I have discovered something odd about my saving trouble.

In surveyer, the save will work perfectly unless i delete already placed track where it then wll freeze when i press save. In driver the scenario will completeley freeze whenever i press save.

Anyone have any ideas?

Could it be that you are not seeing your saved sessions because you have the favorites only selected? Make sure that the * at the top of the list is not turned on.

Have got Trainz12, all the latest drivers etc, when I edit kings cross - Newcastle, i.e. add loco and carriages, will not save it!! Will not go to quick drive either. Hangs on the save, then game crashes!!! Not really impressed so far. Seems like lots of people are having problems. Did I waste my money?


Addendum, seems like it will save my surveyor edit now, still crashes sometime though!!

2nd Addendum, this game does not like to save changes. It takes you round in circles asking whether or not you wish to save, it either crashes or returns to surveyor doing nothing in the process. This is indeed most frustrating... I am rapidly losing patience.

Ensure you are running the program as an Administrator. This will ensure that the program has full access rights and is able to read/write to the proper folders.

Addendum 1; This game crashes at the soonest opportunity! My system is 8800GTX, 3gig twin core AMD, 4gig RAM...Kinda guessed it would be adequate. Really annoying when you have just made lots of changes and you lose them all...

There must be a bug going around because my program crashed too! A short time ago when I was saving my own route. It is quite big and it hung on the save.

So let's hope there's a patch soon to fix the problem.

Yep, this is ridiculous, it will not save changes at all now!

One of the things that happens with trainz 2010 is that it saves a new session with each standard save attempt. In order to avoid this, I have been using "save as" instead, and then using the same file name. This seems to limit the number of sessions that get linked to only one. The others may still be around, so I get rid of those from time to time by deleting them with the content manager under the My Content tab. I wonder whether trying "save as" instead of just "save" might be able to work in your situation.

Hi ma44hew, have tried all sorts of permutations to save games, mostly it will not save, very, very occasionally it will. Saving the game is quite definitely the exception not the rule. When it does save it takes an inordinate amount of time to do so. I understand it is a big game, but the constant crashes, computer hanging, and going round in circles trying to save the game (almost always in surveyor) are infuriating. When it works it is a nice game. Getting it to work is incredibly time consuming and by the time I get it to work I have lost interest in what I was doing. I thought Microsofts' FSX was bad, it is an angel compared to this game. I never thought I would say that about FSX!!

It is a great shame, I hope that Auran can sort this, seems I am not the only one with problems.

Addendum No 1

It's the 3rd of June now, still not had a reply from Auran. Game still does not like to save... Would be nice if they contacted me to let me know what is happening. I would not mind bad news, anything would do!
