Had a feeling a thread like this existed!
These are screenshots from two routes Im working on concurrently. The first one is the Santa Fe's Mainline from Chicago to Kansas City set around 1960. As of 2026, Im around where the town of Lomax is in real life, with Fort Madison being 15 miles away. Highlights include Dearborn Street Station (roof not yet finalized), 21st Street Crossing aka Alton Junction, Corwith Yard, Joliet, Streator, Illinois River Bridge, Chillicothe, and eventually Fort Madison, Marceline and Kansas City.
The second route is the Santa Fe's Los Angeles Division covering most of the Santa Fe lines in the LA area around the early to mid 50s. Highlights include LA Union Station, the Pasadena Sub (Second District), the San Bernardino Sub (Third District via Riverside), the Surf Line, Cajon Pass, Barstow and maybe Needles. As of 2026, Im a few miles east of San Bernardino on both "Districts", as I want both lines to sync up well when they'll eventually meet up. And on the Surf Line, Im around the town of El Toro where the line climbs to 423 feet
Video Run-through of the Third District as far as Fullerton:
As you can see, the scenery on both is quite bare and in some cases non existent. Because of art school, I havent had too much time to work on either routes so progress in general has been slow
