Sad news about a Trainzer.

A popular fellow, and I always enjoyed reading his posts.
Had no idea he was ill with cancer, but that's what courageous people do; they soldier on and never complain.

I'll light a candle for Vinnybarb today.

Chris

I offer my heart felt condolences to all friends and family. May Heaven's Railroad ferry him to eternal light and peace. As a sailor I say "fair winds and following seas."

Rest in Peace Herbert, your contribution to the Trainz community will always be remembered and will surely live on for many more years to come. I helped beta test some of his content as well as helped provide some detail photos for his CLP/F class and UGL c44aci locomotives. I remember when he first told me he was diagnosed with terminal cancer; the doctors told him he'd be lucky to survive 12 months, but he fought the battle and survived for four years. Even though he knew that he wouldn't be around for long he still created content and contributed to the Trainz forums quite regularly.

Deepest condolences to all of his family and friends; he will be greatly missed.

Matt.

Goodbye Herbert/Vinybarb
I helped Herbert with some images and details on the 92 93 and QRN 6000 class. Condolences to his family and friends.

May you have had a life full of memories Vinnybarb and some know how difficult the battle can be.
My condolences to all who have been personally effected by his departure.

My condolences to Vinnybarb's family and friends. Rest easy Vinnybarb.

I know we didn't see eye to eye on most things, but I will be very sorry to no longer see your comments on here, often with very helpful thoughts that got everyone else thinking of new ways to try making their content. Your Gs, SCTs, CLPs were fantastic 3D models, and you were one of the few people that gave the bulldog nose a go and got it looking good!

Regards
Zec

I never really talked to him, but I could see he was always active on here. Great content, will miss his posts. So long, Herbert.

I add my condolences and sincere thanks for all the items Vinnybarb contributed, remembering some of the excellent later engines were built while he was in pain.
His models will be used by so many of us for years to come - and i appreciate that greatly.

Condolences to his family. He will be sorely missed.
He was one of those creators where I was always waiting in anticipation for his next release.
RIP Mate.

Utterly sad news. It was not too long ago we exchanged pleasantries via email and I helped him with getting the offline SP1. Rest in peace, Herbert.

Damn, I have just caught up with this thread. Vinny and I banged heads a few times, but it was never without respect and in more recent times had a laugh about it and said we would be happy to share a beer together. We didn't get to have that beer, but Im glad we ended things on a very good note. His assets are spread across many layouts around the world and will be a fitting memorial in recognition of his contribution to the Trainz family. Rest in peace Vinny, my best wishes to his family and friends.

I'm so sorry. Like Iannz, I just discovered this. Cancer has affected my family too, it took away my first dog and my Granddad. :( Even if we do find a cure, it's already too late for many. :(
Vinny, rest in peace. I spread my wishes to friends and family.

My God ... my dear friend has passed away!!!

I've always send him PM asking him about his cancer ... He kept me informed, and also told me that if anything happens that his dear friend would let us all know.

I wish I could attend the funeral, but an ocean between us makes that impossible!

As someone that attends church every Sunday my prayers will be with him, always, dear friend!!!

Herbert was a great helper to many of us out here, including myself -- He spoke your mind, and had no regrets about it!

We, your net-friends, and the community will missed your daily posts, sir!!!

God bless your spirit on your journey!

Ishie

R.I.P. Herbert. Although we never spoke or contacted each other, I enjoyed reading your many posts on the forum. You will be missed.
