Has anyone noticed when you are driving in the cab that the entire engine is swaying back and forth and bouncing up and down?? I think that's a great new feature of RW3

trainz already have this feature
if you use trainz up rolling stop u will suerly enjoy this feature

about railworks i never played it before but its passenger system outclass trainz system
now i have to see the lighting system of railworks wether its better then train or sucks like trainz

"I believe in Trainz you can tell an AI Driver to stop in 'Siding two' trackmark which you can choose how accurately you want to, and use the 'wait for trigger' command and choose to wait for Fred"

Yup, all the "enhancements" he was gushing about already exist in Trainz - the ability for an AI train to drop off cars was introduced with RW2, they're just now getting around to making AI trains couple onto cars to haul them away - almost four years after the initial release of Rail Simulator. :hehe: Big yawn for me, the primary problem is the whole thing is designed for British multitrack commuter lines where the opposing traffic always runs on its own track. With the timing and schedules you don't actually need signals at all, each train keeps to its own track and each following train has nothing ahead of it if everyone keeps to schedule. If anything unexpected happens no amount of signals however they're set up will save it, since the whole design is predicated on the assumption that everyone including the player will follow the timetable exactly with no variations ever. They find that kind of rigid lockstep where the trains are really nothing more than animated background scenery perfectly acceptable, more programming time goes into birds flying around and squawking than anything to do with trains. Listen to the introductory WAV file, it's a bit over a minute of screeching birds with 10 seconds of a high speed train running past - gives you fair warning about the design priorities, it's a pretty birdwatching scenery simulator that sometimes has trains in it.

reading the truth was never so funny. :hehe:
It's also telling that to get really good scores in the career mode, you have to drive right at the limit and brake pretty aggressively. Never mind that you've broken every bottle in the cargo and knocked over the passengers, you were exactly on time. But if that's what you consider a real simulator, more power to you.

Hmm....

I'm considering getting railworks because trainz is yet again taking the (*&£"*$£!!!
It is the most temperamental 'game' i've ever played, but hey, everyone else says it's great...

In my mind, RW seems to be better for a more realistic driving experience and for those who want everything ready and spelled out for them when it comes to scenarios. Trainz is more for the route builder or creative mind looking to have some fun with the game. Trainz 12, though, compared to RW3, is surprisingly close when it comes to graphics and realism (finally the friggin Doppler effect; Trainz defied the laws of sound for years!), except Trainz offers a much easier-to-use surveyor/map building mode and has much more downloadable content.

I don't think RW3 is bad, in fact it is quite good, but even though it has a better driving experience than Trainz, to a route builder like myself, save the driving experience for engineers; I just wanna build crap! :p

Hmm...
I think I might go for it as i'm yet to have a good driving experience with Trainz.
I always works the 1st few times I run it, but after that it does struggles to load, everytime I try to save a sessionit dies.

Those problems are just a few of the constant problems i've been having with TRS since i stopped using TRS2004 a long time ago.
I struggle to have fun with Trainz these days.

Well, if you're looking for something with fewer bugs than TS2010 you may be disappointed. :hehe:

that manipulated error message does nothing for me as I feel auran hasnt done anything right.
IMHO Trainz has gradually got worse since TRS2004.

I managed to build a route in 2004 but everytime I try in a newer version saving and running is a headache. it either doesn't save, freezes whilst saving or when I does save... content 'vanishes'.

Since numerous others around here (including me) do not seem to have the problems that you are having, perhaps you should consider that the problem could be at your end with your computer or something, rather than just blaming it on N3V. What are your computer specifications?

Well, I'm joking around, but my point to Laddie is if he's looking for a trainsim with less bugs than TS2010, he's gonna be disappointed. Railworks doesn't have MORE bugs, my experience was that it had DIFFERENT bugs, but about the same amount. RW and RW2 (same game different name) ran smoother and at the same time looked better on my ancient clunker, but from what I've been reading RW3 did the same thing many game developers do - increased eye candy at the expense of performance. If I can scrape 20 bucks together next month I'm gonna try TS2009 since that has lower hardware requirements, I just don't have the cash to spare for upgrading my hardware this year.

since having Trainz I've played it on atleast 5 different machines all of which surpassed the 'recommended' specs.
Numerous others have also had the problems I'm having so blaming my computer is typical of this forum.

If you have an issue that is replicable, note the steps that create that fault and send it to the help desk.

OK - so the AI is still just moving scenery but it's better moving scenery?

I, too, cringed at Vern's comment about the locked scenarios. I thought that nonsense was reserved for the games young teenagers play.

But, Phil, that's what these games are aimed at nowadays, or, haven't you seen the Facebook fanpage for prepubescents that these developers now create for, on demand, why do you think they've got a Fisher Price HUD, Multiplayer, Career Systems and achievements, it's all for the kids, veteran adult players have now been discarded, you either become a child again, or, quit the game, it makes my blood boil.....:'(

N3V are at the same stage now, before long they'll be more changes to take into consideration what the kiddywinkies want. You've all been warned.

I'd like a PC Railway Simulator run by adults, for, adults, if anyone's thinking of setting up one can count me in.

Cheerz. ex-railwayman.
