RRmods CN SD40 EMD builder plate addition

Is there a way to put the EMD builder plate onto RRMods CN SD40? Do I need to clone it or what? What program do I need to do that?

Still, you can't re-import the mesh back into a program to edit it. It would be reverse-engineering if you could do such a thing, and it illegal.

You can't edit other's meshes unless they send you the original mesh and give you the permission.

I'm talking about after I get the original meshes and permission. What program do I use? This is for myself and I'm planning on not releasing it to the public.

If you do get the required source files and the relevant permission, the method will depend on what program the original creator used.

Maybe I'm missing something, but I'm a little confused by these responses.

1. If you have an image of the builder’s plate, you could scale it and paste it onto the skin of locomotive in the proper position. All that would require is a graphics program.

2. If you have a mesh file for the builders plate that you actually want to attach to the locomotive, you can use PEV’s Attachment Maker (available at Shane Turners’ site http://trainz.shaneturner.co.uk/tut...d-party-trainz-utilities/pevsoft-trainz-tools) to add the necessary attachment point(s).

Neither of these methods involve editing or modifying the original mesh in any way. If the license agreement allows reskining for private use the first method is definitely acceptable and I would think that the second is as well. In either case you’d want to work with a clone of the asset.

normally it's just a matter of matter of finding the correct tga file and then scaling down the pic. I have done this with around 80% of the content that I have. There are no legalities for personal use.
