Route refused to save

I've been working on a route for a few weeks when suddenly this evening the route refused to save - or rather the message told me it couldn't save and I must save under a new name. So I went to "save as" and actually used the same name again. This worked OK but I've now got a route with no sessions (I previously had 27).

So I went into my contents and all 27 are still there but each has a yellow question mark. Is there any way I can link these back to my resaved activity or must I go back to an earlier version of my route I have on a USB stick (I could do this but would lose a couple of day's work - better than losing 27 sessions though!)

Any ideas what might have caused the blip so that I can avoid it in the future.

Thanks
Alan

Thanks, Shane. Yes, I know the KUID for the original route but don't know how to change the number of the new one to match. Sorry to be so dim - still learning!!!

This may get complex, so read it carefully.

1.Find the route in Content Manager.
2.Open the route for edit in Explorer.
3.Edit the kuid line in the config file to match the old KUID, then save the file.
4.Copy the folder's contents into a new folder outside the Trainz install folder, then revert the asset.
5.Import the new folder using Import Content, allowing it to overwrite if needed.
6.Delete the non-original version of the asset - save it to CDP first if you are not certain.

I note the OP is running TRS2006. One thing which comes to mind is that you probably need to manually set the user permissions (if you're on Vista or Win 7) to allow overwriting of files and ensure you run the programme as administrator. Other thing might be the size of the route, years since I worked in TRS2006 but I'm sure I hit problems saving larger routes due to limitations of the older version. If you're serious about route building, might be worthwhile upgrading to a newer version such as TS2010 which is better optimised for modern PC's and operating systems.

Thanks again. That was a very nervous 60 minutes but I followed Shane's instructions and got there rather slowly but safely. Thanks also to Vern for the tip - I'm still on good old fashioned XP so all was well in that respect.

All the best

That's great to hear. Luckily, that kind of issue does not crop up very often, but I have seen it before (which is how I know how to fix it).
