Roads sink below ground, even after inserting spline points, is there an alternative?

Since 2001
Hey Everyone...

Correct situation, the road and intersection that I was using where perfect in previous versions, but in TANE the roads connected to the intersection sinks, even after I "insert spline points" ...

So, is there any combo of roads and intersections that goes hand and hand, and in that the spline doesn't sink under the ground even after inserting spline points?

Note kuids / name here please.

Thanks for any feedback!

I have good luck with the YARN and YARNish roads.

Dave Snow made some that match up with some nice textures and bridges too.

They are thick and don't need tamping down, though you might want to flatten he terrain under them which will actually raise up instead of continuously move away from the splines.

I will say there is something wrong with how splines react and this has been since T:ANE first came out. If a spline point is added and then the terrain is flattened, you can't always remove the lumps of terrain that appear on the road. With situations like this you need to remove the spline point and then smooth the terrain.

I'm running into this situation after I brought in a ca. 2004 route that I used parts of for the modern version of the same route. Those roads were all tamped down because they used to float and are now sunk. This I understand would happen because the roads and splines are finally fixed and the floating splines issue has finally been resolved for most roads. The issue now when I flatten the terrain under these roads that I updated is the ground doesn't always pull off the surface and I need to fiddle with them to get the terrain and roads to look right.

Hi John,

Thank you, sir ... I'll going with your suggestions here --

And yeah, thanks for your explanation ... exactly what's happening! Now I know why it happens!

Lastly, thanks goodness for the replace feature in TANE ... that has been a great feature for me, since my desert route is so vast -- Doing a major overhaul, and things are coming out quite beautiful!

Take Care of yourself now, John -- Your presents in this community is invaluable, sir .... :p
