Hi Paul.
Several things about using UDS with standard N3V ITs or with my own EITs (should have the same behaviour) :
- ITs or EITs are not assets of type rules but are assets of type scenery : so they are not targets for any Restart All Rules command which concerns only Scenario Behaviour rules objects.
- path objects like junctions, signals, crossings are not owned and locked by consists but are owned by ITs or EITs and are locked by IT or EIT paths when the path is active. If you want to release a path object currently locked, you need to identify which path is currently locking the path object and use the EIT manager interface to request to cancel the path currently locking your target path object. If you delete a consist owning a path while in surveyor, when returning to driver mode you will have a path with no owner that you can cancel using the IT Manager from the tower path page.
- EIT Manager rule displays current state of ITs or EITs objects in its tower page, tower paths page and path details page and includes at run time some links in these page to request to change paths states. For example, the tower paths page includes for any active path a link to enforce a path cancellation. But take care cancelling an active path means the path will no longer be active for its path consist owner and the consist may be later in driver routed not correctly as the path has been cancelled ...
EITs like ITs does not support path edition for towers with some active paths. By default, only towers without any active path can be edited while in surveyor mode.
EIT manager displays in the tower page if a tower is currently editable or not. If you display the tower paths page for a tower not editable, it will show you which path is currently active or not.
For only EIT currently not editable, you can in the tower paths page click on a link "make tower editable" which will enforce a reset on the paths currently active, making again the EIT editable. Take care that the EIT will still remember the paths that were initially active, and when you will return to driver mode will try to reactivate these paths. Depending on what you have changed during your surveyor session this may work or fail ...
To resume EIT UDS specific processing :
- When you switch from driver to surveyor using UDS , all towers will analyse their current paths states and will release ownership for all its path objects currently owned without any path active for this path object. Only path objects owned and locked by an active path will remain owned and locked while in surveyor mode. Towers with some active paths are set as not editable.
- When you switch from surveyor to driver using UDS , all towers will re analyse their current paths definition and status and will take ownership of all their paths objects (for towers in static mode). If the tower had initially some active paths and has been enforced as editable, tower will try to re activate paths that were reset to make the tower editable. Currently active paths are verified to check that all their paths objects are owned and locked. Special processing is also done for active paths releasing path objects while driving (clear on drive) to avoid taking ownership and locking path objects previously released in previous driver session operations ...
UDS switching operations are quite complex and have taken some time and some releases to fix all the problems and bugs encountered. Only EIT release 87 has all the fixes needed for correct UDS switching operations.
Normally with release 87 you should not have the problems you describe above, but of course as allways I cannot exclude there are still a few remaining bugs to be fixed. If you have any problem you cannot solve using the current links available in the EIT Manager do not hesitate to contact me by email or PM to see how to solve your problem.
Regards.
Pierre.
