Railworks heads into Muti Player by Next year

Though Auran will release the beta in January 2011, in my opinion, they are just too late. They haven´t improved nothing ingame but speedtrees and a little facelift to the built-in trains, I will be going into Railworks. If Auran doesn´t make any changes, any GOOD CHANGES in Trainz, well, I´ll have to think seriously about buying a new version. I´m not gonna expends every single year 35€ in each game.

But hey, they listen to our suggestions (someone said it here in this forum).

Regards and Merry Xmas

Trainz has already blown MSTS and Railworks out of the water, they are just trying to play catch up !!

Check the forums overthe next few months, you will be amazed at developments.

So forget the others, just get Trainz TS2010 and watch a good sim !!

Excuse me sir, but that´s your opinion...

You Must be missing out on the real world if you think everything is happy sunshine, But yeah Kind of. Instead of Blowing off more cash on NV3, or even worse, Railsimulator, I bought another Locomotive in HO scale. Problem Solved!

Nope. I view the world as a place full of positive and negative things. You seem to only notice all the negativity.

And I'll add one last thing. If you Rail Works supporters love Rail Works so much, why are you wasting time here? This is a place for Trainz. Not Rail Works of MSTS.

Btw, These Two Crack-headed Company's are making me want to throw both games out the window and go work on my Model Train Layout.
Gaugetamper, If you want to throw Trainz and Rail Works out the window and play with your model railway, why are you still here? The only relation Trainz has to model railways is that some people build Trainz versions of model railway layouts.

What happens if you do throw them out the window and lose them? Will you cry when you realize that you have to pay to get new copies of them?

I think some of you need to be reminded of what Trainz enabled us to do over rubbish MSTS... sessions? switching between trains? easy world creation?

Trainz is still more fun than railworks, i dont want a degree in game development to create a route or scenario!!

Trainz has that nice balance of fun and simple, but also has elements for pro's etc.

Trainz is what you make it, and come on... railworks DLC is a complete rip off.

Seeing as this is a trainz forum i think you bunch of railworks huggers should stop slating trainz, and if you love railworks so much why come back here?

[/rant]

Edit: We are talking about a game that can't even get helper loco's/rear power cars to rev up with the main unit since version 1, how fail are they.

You said it nicknackpaddywack. We keep getting these threads about RW popping up here and at one point recently 3 threads although one was thankfully closed. It wouldn't be so bad if it was just a passing thing but they are always in a tendency to become elastic. This IS Trainz which is a dashed lot easier than you-know-what (!) to build for the ordinary Joe like me.

Seems to me if I loved railfail the way these people do I'd be using the railfail forums. Mabe this is the old bait and switch, can't get enough peole to buy your product, make a lot of noise somewhere else and someone will be dumb enough to buy it.

"ahh well its a good thing i work for DB Schenker Rail (formally EWS)"

If Third Grade remedial class grammar, spelling, and punctuation is the standard for their drivers, remind me never to ride that railway. :hehe:

"make a lot of noise somewhere else and someone will be dumb enough to buy it."

On sale for only $10 dollars US these days, still about 10 times what it's actually worth. The scenario editor and AI traffic started out worthless, then they "further enhanced" it so it went from worthless to hopeless. If their multiplayer is anything like their AI traffic it will be useless. :n:

These threads are always fun.....
played both and trainz wins really if for nothing else the fact that I dont have to pay for every piece of grass I want to place on the route.....
I still do miss things about RS like the lighting, some aspect of the physics like that if I made a 5 mph coupling the cars would react appropriately and definitely being able to read the switchpoints without an indicator, DOPPLER EFFECT. Definitely a few things from RS that id love to see in TRS but TRS is still the better sim overall.

p.s. here's a pic just to show what Railworks can do
*snipped

So... on RailJerks, you can drive a Fowler 3F tank engine? Pretty sure you can do that on Trainz aswell. Not much to brag about there, other than a massive blob of smoke and steam gathered above the engine's chimney. Very 'unrealistic' as you would put it.

What gives you the right to come on here and go on about this RailJerks rubbish? If you think RailJerks is better than Trainz, go on, use RailJerks. But it's not socialist around here, you can't tell us what we should be using! Can we not choose the simulator we would prefer and use it?

Does RailJerks have locos from many, many locations around the world? Nope.

Does RailJerks have an easy to use map building? Nope, it's there, but more complicated to use than a Russian phone book, which has been half burnt and turned upside down.

Does RailJerks have a large collection of freeware assets in one easy to reach place? Nope.

I think you should be ashamed. If you made a rail simulator then a person comes along and says 'Oh, mate. THAT'S SO CRAP!' how would YOU feel? Could YOU even make a rail sim even as half as good as Trainz 1.1!?
I believe you should leave Auran alone. Go back to RailJerks or wherever you belong.:(

Enough of my ranting,
Mitch

P.S. I googled 'Railworks features' but showed nothing of what I was looking for. Maybe RailJerks has no features worth noting?

Bear in mind that the RW 'beta' in April (not march, but they have actually stated april online), is to be a closed beta, available to the 'select crowd of chosen ones'. RW multi-player will not be available to the general RW player base until around November 2011 as is claimed, perhaps later given their expediency with going from announced to actual (they announced the new UI about this time last year, with a 'coming soon', apparently '10 months (and counting, for fixes)' is 'soon').

On the other hand, Auran has multi-player working now, with a PUBLIC beta starting next month, and likely a final 'trainz 2011' sometime after that - but likely still before anyone but the cheerleaders get to experience RW multiplayer.

To be fair, you don't need A bloody degree in English to drive A train. Who cares about grammar and spelling on A FORUM.
If he was writing A letter to the queen I expect he would of checked his spelling and grammar before posting, but seeing as the queen doesn't play trainz, we're safe.

Would of ... :hehe:

G'day...

Okay guys... enough with the bagging out of other rail sims. Trainz and Railworks are just as good as each other in my opinion. :D Each one has it flaws. For example: The route builder in RW crashes alot. In Trainz, sometimes the game will hang. Although I've never tried Railworks, I've gotta admit it does look good. But I'm gonna stick with Trainz for now.

Cheers! :)

Jake.

I see railworks is what they are calling Rail simulator these days and I tried it and it blew chunks.

Trainz 2010 in combination with TranzDem is without a doubt the easiest and most accurate way to construct routes.

Now there was only one thing I thought was cool about Rail Simulator and that was the wind blowing through the trees and grass and SpeedTreez puts Trainz on par there...

Well I've seen both Trainz & 'Railworks' & even TRS2004 blows 'Railworks' into the cesspit, TS2010 must leave it for dead.
'Railworks is ok if all you want to do is drive a loco, anything else, it's total cowpat.

Try the free download from the 'National Railway Museum' (or 'NRM York' will get you there)

Thanks for the info about that free demo, Blackwatch.
I tried it... custom cab, custom whistle, and a rather nice enginesound.

So... how the bloody hell do you put the brake on again?:hehe: If this is what RailWorks is actually like, I'm not buying it. The graphics are awesome, yes, but how is RailWorks superior to Trainz with a steam loco control method like that?:hehe:

I'd much rather use Trainz, and actually have control over the locomotive's steam pressure, coal level, water level, cutoff position, injectors, cylinder cocks, brakes and blower. I wouldn't mind a bit of wheelslip, either.

Plus, switching points is harder than Trainz.:p
My Two Cents,
Mitch

I'm not trying to get chased by a lynch mob, but the forums are meant for Trainz. Why do we need all these Rail Works threads here?

Next we will have RR tycoon, MSTS and other rail simulator threads here until we are over run (a bit of exaggeration I suppose). I have already seen about three Rail Works threads here. One has been closed, thank god.

Please, this is the Trainz forums. Lets keep it that way.
