After some adventures getting a second license for TS12, then spending the day re-downloading a bunch of dependencies (they REALLY need to redesign multiplayer to not be so pedantic, everything that worked a couple months ago no longer works today because of updates) I finally got one multiplayer session working on both computers, and my son and I spent half an hour driving L trains around Chicago Metro 2.
Since we're in the same room 10 feet apart we really don't need the chat window, is there a way to shut that off?
Other observations, the session I used;
Chicago Metro V2 CTA multiplayer 16 30,<kuid:522774:100225>
has 16 player trains with AI trains spawning from both ends at 30 minute intervals. The jury is still out on how well AI traffic trains work in multiplayer sessions, but the one bit of confusion I saw was that every AI train running had "Sniper297" label above it same as my train, which caused some baffling moments occasionally when trying to find the one I was really driving. :hehe: Hopefully someone knows a way to change the label on AI trains so they're not the same as the host.
My son hasn't played Trainz much (he's an MSTS wiz since age 11 and still prefers that) so he derailed his first train on a trailing point switch, took some time to figure out how to reassign him to a different one. After that we tried a head on collision but we just passed through each other like ghosts, which is no fun at all.
Next up is getting KrashNburne and IntenCity multiplayer working again (more nonsense about updates so it's not ready to play) since those are ideal for two players.
