Hi,

Been gone quite awhile but finally got a new laptop that can run Trainz!:) I have TANE & am enjoying it. It runs great with 32 gigs of ram. If I purchase TS19 is it a separate program & I keep TANE or does it replace TANE?
I really don't want to lose anything I currently have.

Thanks & happy holidays!

TRS19 is totally seperate you can (and should) keep your TANE as it is now
Happy holidays to you too
greetings GM

Thanks for getting back so quick.

Can I use a route I built in TANE to run on TRS19 as well as content I have now?

Thanks!

yup all TANE routes work fine in TRS19
you may have to download a few items after bringing to TRS19 but they work fine

You would use the TANE Contend Manager to save your TANE Route as a CDP file. Then open the TRS19 Content Manager and drag the CDP file into the TRS19 Contend Manager panel. Once loaded, it will probably show up as missing dependencies. Right click it and select List Dependencies, when then new window opens, sort by Status and select all that are available for download and then download them. You should be fine after that.

Nothing special to do. Just make sure "maximum compatibility" is on in prefs. Should be as that's the default. Note that Tane Sessions may not all play well in TRS19. Common problem for me: Red signals that won't go green no matter what. Nav icons being wonky. First thing I do is go into the session rules and remove the "end game on passing red light" rule.

Have you checked for 'Out of Date' assets in the Contend Manager?

Hi again folks many thanks for the replies...what does TRS19 do that TANE does not? I'm trying to justify owning both.
Thanks!

thisdude - Everything that T:ANE does, but better performing and better-looking.
Whilst you can and should import your routes from T:ANE to improve them in TRS19, I recommend NOT importing your sessions - rather - re-create them afresh, for better, more dependable performance and access to TRS19's additional features.
What are the additions you ask? They are numerable and mostly extremely worthwhile, with the following list far from exhaustive and fully inclusive:
* PBR (3D) textures
* TurfFX and Clutter
* Additional controls for lighting and atmospherics
* Better management of/ more options for lighting and shadows
* More assets and packages available than for any previous Trainz versions - many new & exclusive to TRS19
* Current focus of continued development and support - not relegated to 'out-of-support' status like most previous versions of Trainz

The Platinum edition of TRS19 is currently on sale at a one-off bargain price probably much less than you originally paid for the Deluxe version of T:ANE. (Recommended!)
Or you can Go for Gold! with a subscription option for accessing ALL of the goodies that Trainz PLUS offers, plus access to Multiplayer Surveyor.

You can be confident that in most circumstances, if T:ANE performs well on your current PC rig, then the same routes and revamped sessions will perform even better when transferred to TRS19. They'll look better too at the same visual quality settings.

One question...I created a simple route but in driver mode it says no train selected. I saved a session with a saved consist so how do I select the train? I can't find any option.

Thanks!

Once you create your route, you can then add Driver sessions by creating a new session. (Suggest do not use the 'Default' session automatically created).
The procedure is relatively simple, but can be very labour intensive and take many months if you are creating complex sessions involving scores of consists scurrying about your route delivering goods, services and passengers to multiple interactive industries, ports, airports and stations.
For a simple route, 1st select the route in Surveyor mode and then choose 'View Sessions', then 'Create Session'. (To edit an existing session, select Edit Session; To Drive it - select Drive Session, etc).
During Session Creation mode, add your locomotive, consist and driver to the track at a suitable start-point. Then go to the 'Edit Menu' (top left) and then choose Edit Session... and give the driver some commands to carry out in the Driver setup dialog (Select Driver setup, then click on the Edit command, bottom left).

Thanks all for the help & awesome speedy replies. TRS19 does look a lot better & more real than TANE which I still will enjoy.

The more I use TRS19 the more I like it.

Happy 2021 to everyone & thank you again!
