Question regarding missing textures (Baldwin 4-4-0 pack)

Hello, first I wanted to say what awesome Trainz content I have found on Subpar productions website and I am grateful for his uploads.

However, some of the engines I downloaded (let's focus mainly on the modern Baldwin 4-4-0 pack) from the site look like their textures are missing or something (multicolors and transparent). The models themselves work just fine in driver and railyard.

Yes, I'm in comp mode and did several (both quick and extended database repairs.

According to the content manager it's under warning status (red/orange puzzle piece with an exclamation through it. It says it's missing a shadow mesh.

Not sure if this is a kuid related matter, but its 96914:4892.

Also yes I looked at Subpar to make sure I had all the common files.

I appreciate any assistance. Thank you. :)

Edit: Resolved. Thanks all for the assistance.

Would it be possible for you to post a screen shot of the locomotive to illustrate what you mean? "Mulicolored" might just be the weathering, but I don't understand what you mean by "transparent". I have the 4-4-0 (and most, if not all, of the other standard guage locomotives) and I've never had a missing texture (or anything else for that matter).

Thanks for the replies. I'll have a look at that shadow program.

As for screens:

You've got me stumped. Looks like the textures may have been incorrectly compressed. I have no experience with TS10, so I don't know what would cause that or how to fix it.

Cheers,
Ben

Well, now I know what you mean by "transparent". I'm sorry, but I don't have a clue what the problem is. The only thing I can suggest is to try (if you haven't already) downloading it again.

Try disabling hardware compression in CM: file -> settings -> miscellaneous
Then, delete and reinstall the locomotive.

You know, I never tried comparing the two. I'll certainly try that when I get my PC fixed.

Yep, sadly my PC got hit hard by a virus (not Trainz related) and now I have to reset everything. So in the meantime I can't play Trainz anymore. :(

On the bright side, this way I'll reinstall and try again.

Thanks all for the replies. I'll let you know once I've got both Trainz and bdaneal's excellent Baldwins installed again. :)

I may be down, but I'm not out! Trainz FTW!

its not that, the problem is coming from CMP and your video card corrupting the textures while they are being compressed and mipped. Turn off hardware accelerated compression in your CMP settings and this should go away once the item is either reinstalled or opened for edit and recommitted. you may also try new video card drivers but if the first option works and you are satisfied with your current drivers i would leave them alone.
This should help you out

I've got everything up again. I disabled the texture compression, and BINGO! It worked!

I can see correct textures again! Thanks all for the assistance!

Thanks for your awesome locos bdaneal.
:)

Running on Directx as well. Open GL was slowing Trainz down too much.

I tryed to figure out the ways you guys are using to solve this. But I do not have that much experience and know I need some help. But whatever I do I can't find out it. So can someone help me out with fixing the Faulty assets and not use PEV, If you can?

Probably bumping a thirteen-year dead thread is not the way. Try posting the KUID(s) that are faulty, then right-click them and select "View Errors and Warnings", and copy and paste the response into the post. But fair warning. If it can't read the .texture files, it is because it wants separate .tga and .texture.txt files, and about the only fix is to use PEVSoft's IMages2TGA software. It is the only way to separate the .tga image out of the .texture file. It's free and it is easy-peasy to use.
