Question on engine specs since TC3

What has exactly changed for steam locomotive engine specs in the games since TC3 in 2008 since thats when i believe steam got a major update (2009, 2010, 2012, TANE and 2022)

i ask this because i see versions of engine specs that are rated for TANE but cant find exactly what changed between TANE and trainz 2012 on the wiki as its not documented, Same goes for Trainz 2019 cant find exactly what changed between TANE and 19

if possible, list the changes between a game

I don't think there's ever been an official list of changes anywhere, but from observation and recollection:

TC3/2009/2010/earlyTS12 - all the same as far as I know* and completely different and vastly superior to earlier versions of the game.
TS12 SP1 altered the steam generating capacity of the boiler (apparently it corrected a bug where steam was being added from nowhere from what I recall being told at the time).
I'm not aware of any changes between TS12 SP1 and T:ANE - I didn't alter any of my specs.
TRS19 added and removed a couple of peripheral tags. I don't think the core steam physics were altered.

*At some point between 09 and 19 something altered in relation to the air drag calculations - specs which perform accurately in TRS19 and up won't do more than about 35mph in DCC mode in earlier versions of the game.

so a Trainz 2019 engine spec if downgraded to T:ANE via config file build number editing would perform fine in cab mode just not DCC from what i gather?

Quite possibly.

In the case of my specs I made a large number of alterations to the steam container values between my TS12 SP1 and TRS19 specs (mostly around improving boiler behaviour) and I never tested them in T:ANE so I can't say for sure. Dropping the build number doesn't throw up any errors, but you'd have to test it to see how well it performed.
