Engine Stopping Distances

One of my steam engines has a horrendous stopping distance (an entire locomotive length) for speeds under like 5 mph in DCC (Easy) mode. This engine runs perfectly fine in Trainz 19 and it's the only engine I've had this problem with in Trainz 22. I've tried rebuilding the asset from the ground up, deleting and reinstalling it, swapping engine specs, drivers, testing them on other engines, using trainz in compatibility and performance modes, absolutely nothing is pointing me to what the problem is. Like I said, there isn't a single train component on this engine other than maybe the whistle that I can't find on another engine that works fine. Has anyone else experienced this bizarre issue?

Unfortunately the later versions of TRS22 are good at making things go weird.
Yeah I've decided to go back to TS2019 because of this, currently porting all of my content over as we speak. You can argue that one version is better than another on purely subjective things like the UI but clearly TS2022 can't operate as well as TS2019 when some engines don't run correctly in 2022, without any reason... that's not just a matter of opinion. Kind of a shame, especially since there weren't any major improvements made from 2019 (I prefer the classic surveyor mode anyways).
