Question About 2006 Content With Trainz Classics

I'm considering picking up one of the few copies of Trainz Classics at EB. I have 2006 and I'm wondering if TC has 2006 included? If not, which folders in 2006 hold the content so I can apply it to Classics?

Too bad about Auran. With all the warez and crap that goes around these days, it's only a matter of time before you can't buy software in the stores. Either that, or the software development community will just implode.

I believe Merscom's Trainz Railwayz also is in Canada besides the US. It's a yellow/black box with a steam train on it. It has both TRS2006 and TC in it. And the folder you are asking about is called "local". :)

Also, the reason for Auran Developments demise was the failure that was Fury, not illegal pirating. Btw, Auran Games, which makes TRS, is still chugging along.

Chris ;)

The guy said they just got a new Trainz game in and according to the computer, it registers as Trainz Classics. This is EB though, so I'll probably have to go down there and check first hand to be sure. I asked him to check but they were quite busy considering Christmas. I probably should leave now.

Good to hear about Auran. Trainz is the only game I care for since it's quite unique from the current saturation in the market these dayz.

Just as suspected, the guy at EB was an idiot. These "new" copies of Trainz Classics turned out to be copies of Trainz 2006. I checked all over the city for them and they're nowhere to be found.

I heard you can get them online but I don't shop online for anything anymore. The last thing I bought online was TrackMania United and I got the game in bad shape. Tried to get a refund but was lead on a wild goose chase.

Too bad there aren't any other train simulators I can look for.

Don't give up yet!

Just because you had a bad purchase doesn't mean every other purchase will be bad. ;)

Hi Snaptrap,

I purchased a copy of Tranz Railways from EB games in Winnipeg for 19.99. The box shows contains two PC DVDs - One for 2006 and the other for Classics and has two separate reg codes - one for each product.

I have tried to transfer content from the 06 version to TC using techniques posted through out the forums but for some reason if I try the bulk methods, all I get is "broken" assets according to CMP. The only reliable method I have been able to get working is to start 2006 CMP, open the asset for edit, close 06 CMP, start TC CMP then import content from the 2006\edit folder!

It is time consuming but after doing for a while I decided that it was the right method for me anyway since I really only want a limited amount of assets transfered. Probably only between 5 to 10 percent of what is in 06 will be used by me and this keeps the TC database small and fast.

Brian
