Could someone please make a 4 track, snap to track side asset: track guide with 4m track spacing marks like this that locks onto a track at a 90 degree angle ?

In order to make a perfect radius curve, with easements, I have to lay track like this for every curve.

All of this lack of a trackside "45 Degree Angle" that could lock onto tracks has been holding me up for months on end, delaying my project that could have been finished over 1 year ago.

Could someone please make a 4 track, snap to track side asset: track guide with 4m track spacing marks like this that locks onto a track at a 90 degree angle ?

A 4 track signal gantry locks onto a single track, at 90 degrees...I guess that I'll have alter that too, and edit the asset in explorer, to make track spacing marks on the overhead walkway. (as I did on the 45 Degree Triangle)

I think that I have figured it out how to use FT 200m Radius track in conjunction with 30m Ruler, 45 Degree Triangle, Large Protractor, Small Protractor...and will post screenshots soon.

On an assembled curve of FT 200m Radius track, you can press rotate, and look at the measurement of the rotation of each FT Track spline point...then subtract 90 degrees, or add 90 degrees onto that numeral....rotate the tool (45 Degree Triangle, Ruler, Protractor) to match that numeral...slide that tool precisely on center to the FT Spline Point...and Walah ! A 4 track mainline with perfectly aligned and perfectly spaced spline points.

Wouldn't it be easier to use the track spacing guides position these so that one spline marker is over the guide curve delete track spacers and move the end of the track on the the end over the curve guide, By positioning more track spacers next to each other you can accuratly curve whole entire yard if desired. This is how I achieve it anyway.

Hope this makes life slightly easier

Yes they have 2 track spacers...but not a 4 track spacer, as I need.

Also track spacers install at a 0.0 degree rotation, and have to be meticulously rotated, as they don't snap to assembled FT track, and also block the assembly of FT track. I have altred a 360 Degree Large Protractor and have made track markings for 4m track spacing.

What I realy need is a trackside asset, like Gantry 4 4tk, that does snap anywhere to trackside automaticly. But I can't open up the IM files and Texture files in order to make track spacing markings on the walkway. How can these files be opened up ?

The 30m Ruler is also a handy measuring tool fpr perfect track spline alignment.
If only this ruler was magnetic, and snaped anywhere to the track, like a trackside item, like the Gantry 4 4tk snaps to the track, it would be truely the most useful tool !

At one time, this place employed 6000+ workers, and had 2 hump classification yards, and 2 roundhouses, as well as a pretty huge repair facility.

Sad News:

Please join me in remembering a great icon of the entertainment community. Pillsbury Doughboy died yesterday of a yeast infection and trauma complications from repeated pokes in the belly. He was 71. Doughboy was buried in a lightly greased coffin. Dozens of celebrities turned out to pay their respects, including Mrs. Butterworth, Hungry Jack, the California Raisins, Betty Crocker the Hostess Twinkies, and Captain Crunch. The grave site was piled high with flours. Aunt Jemima delivered the eulogy and lovingly described Doughboy as a man who never knew how much he was kneaded. Doughboy rose quickly in show business, but his later life was filled with turnovers. He was not considered a very smart cookie, wasting much of his dough on half-baked schemes. Despite being a little flaky at times, he still was a crusty old man and was considered a positive roll model for millions. Doughboy is survived by his wife Play Dough, three children: Jane Dough and Dosey Dough, plus they had one in the oven. He is also survived by his elderly father, Pop Tart. The funeral was held at 3:50 for about 20 minutes.

DAM !

http://s525.photobucket.com/albums/cc339/cascaderailroad/?action=view&current=SouthForkDam.flv
I found the remote area where the SouthFork Hunting and Fishing Sportsmans Resort was located on my dam DEM. This dam was the cause of the first Johnstown Flood in 1889, when the earthen dam gave way, sending a 90' high wave of water downstream. The rest was history...there are many books and videos on the subject.

I have considered joining the Altoona Model Railroad club, and setting up shop there at their site...as I am looking for help with this monumental project, as their members are extremely knowlegable and helpful with this ongoing project.

Who has tried the PRR-TGV on DLS ? ? ?

Yes the Tuscan Red PRR-TGV is my TRS2006 Paintshed re-skin creation on the DLS. I tried to upload the Brunswick Green PRR-TGV Freight, but I guess it (dis)-agreed with the DLS, like with you, and it barfed them back out at me.:hehe:

If you put a new engine sound, horn & bell in the config file, they might seem better.

I'll have to look into those. I didn't know if they were a fantasy creation, or the real deal. They are a bit odd looking.

I find it hard to believe a railfan, who uses Trainz, hasn't heard of the TGV.

Standing for Train à Grande Vitesse (high speed train), They are operated by the French national rail company SNCF.

They are the official fastest rail riding trains in the world with an average speed of 175mph. In 2007, a TGV duplex (double decker) achieved the record for fastest train journey with a top speed of 357mph.

I don't really like modern stuff like that. I mainly like North American steam and early diesels. Although I have taken a liking to the funky Polish steamers I discovered since I got into Trainz.

I would like a vote, and you can PM me with your responces if you wish. Yahoo IM is preferred, as it gets quicker responce if I am online.

I have experimented with WRRW T2KA Dark Ballast track.

But with some looks at other great routebuilders stuff lately, I am leaning back towards MP Wood & MP Rusty...again.

1) What are you feelings toward these tracks ? Thes chunky mesh tracks look darn good, if the scenery and textures make the scene.

2) A count, how many people out there are interested in the Horseshoe Line from Johnstown to Huntingdon ?

3) Being that it is built in TRS2006, how many will be able to get it to play on 04 (by messing with the config file) ?

4) The route is hugely, HUGE ! How many of your PC's can handle it ? Presently 567mb, and growing to 1gb soon.

5) Should I divide it up into @ 7 smaller mergable routes ? Or should I leave it intact as 10,000 baseboards. (With Iportal you can run trains to and from, any of your many Trainz routes on your own PC)

I feel some more PRR Screenshots and an AVI movie comming...very soon.

9/7/10 - Well ... It is September, and the unsupport of 04/06 has gone through ... I think now that I have 800 Gb of assets saved and have my "local" file backed up on an external 1 Tb hard drive ...I should really get cracking and restart this PRR project with jumper cables. More screenshots soon.

I have made much progress on this route ... I am using MP-Wood v2, MP-Rusty, MP Tunneltrack Dark & 1000cm NG Rusty/Grass track for the many twisting coal, iron ore, and timber, backwoods branchlines... I hope these tracks work also in 09/10 versions, as my route is created in TRS2006. Does WRRW TK2A Dark Ballast track work well in 09/10 ?

I think I have gradients and perfect track radius tracklaying down pat. I laid rails from Tunnelhill, through the Muleshoe, via Hollidaysburg, and on to the mainline junction at Petersburg. I have altered all the blinding HOG Texture and Transdem Texture colors to shades of gray's and brown, and am laying track looking straight down, at -surveyorfov=155 in my Trainzoptions file. Most of my mainline track radius are 400m to 700m radius with a max gradient of 1.25%.

I was torture testing the Wopsy RR which as grades as steep as 4.50% ... The UP Big Boy nearly stalled out, crawling at 7 mph but finally reached the 12 mile grade summit at Wopsononck Lookout. Some of the Wopsy RR curves are extremely tight, eqivilent to FT_15 Degree 50m Radius Track (which I use as temporary tracklaying templates). I plan to use 36" track for the Wopsy RR, as it was NG up until 1902, and was later SG, being finally abandoned in 1920. The Wopsy RR used indiginous rock and bolders for its very rough ballast. The prototype track was very kinked, poorly balasted, and had slipshod looking hand hewn tree RR ties ... I am definatly making the trackwork look too perfect.

The Allegheny Portage RR-10 Inclined Planes are also being constructed, as well as the canal basins at Holidaysburg and Johnstown. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=324x1746
