it seems u are the only fan of prr and kept this thread alive
do i have permission to become fan of prr
Huh ?

OK ... you are now an official PRR fan !

There are several of us each building their own Horseshoe route.

I released a very basic WIP route on Mediafire last month.

I am looking closely at the Railworks horseshoe route, and it seems like fun to run, but not terribly realistic.

I am not using the Fishlipsatwork DEM any longer, and I am instead concentrating on a 10,000 baseboard DEM of the Horseshoe area.

I intend to release mine as freeware, I don't know about Scratchy's route whether it will be payware or not.

I have often brought up that a Horseshoe route should be done by a group of people, all editing it, and sending their revisions back and forth to one another, but no one seems interested.
Where can i get that

Not sure what you mean: "Where can i get that"

Definately, The thing about Trainz, errr OUR Trainz, is that the game many times isnt the one holing us back, its all about technique and computer performance. Personally my route is a bit of a beast in itself, and I am still working out my techniques as I go through it. I must say that railworks has its perks (and is doing a good job updating, as is N3VR), but both games still have room to grow. Top tip of the day: Lighting, sky, and fog conditions can have tremendous effect on the appearance of a route. Dial yours in just right, and be prepared to drop jaws:wave:

cheers

Actually there were two water tanks @ 1000' apart at one era.

The coal/water transfer bridge was east of the 241.37 signal bridge location.

Later on there were water scoop tank troughs located on the long straight east of the "Curve", where steam locos took on water on the fly.

The area of the old iron water tank is heavily overgrown, and in timber rattler & copperhead territory ... it is rusting away, falling appart at the seams, and has no tank roof.

Oct 7, 8, 9th is the 3 day East Broad Top RR Fall Spectacular ... Don't miss it !

It figures that the Altoona Railfest, Oct 1st & 2nd, does not coinside with the EBT Fall Spectacular, as the 2 scheduals are one week different. http://www.railroadcity.com/news_altoona_railroaders_museum/article.php?id=33

On my 10,000 baseboard Horseshoe Curve route ... I was driving my RJ Corman-Irvona branch, and the train took an hour to traverse the 40 mile branchline from Medina to the interchange at Cresson.

I am very unimpressed with videos on YouTube of the Horseshoe.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=--e3Mh8L1Y4
The area(s) are very steep and rugged, with towering 90' cliffs, jagged deep shale cuts, and shear drop offs ... yet I see pristine State Park like imaculately grassy flatlands ... in contrast, where scrubby stickerbush and scrubby stunted trees, where it is timber rattler & copperhead infested, and extremly rocky terrain exists on the prototype. One video actually showed a train on the mainline running Left Hand rule like they do in Europe ... I am amazed at the lack of research they put into the route(s). The "Curve", the high point of the route, has no engine display track, no Horseshoe steps, no creek up both Burgoon & Glenwhite runs, no Glenwhite Coal & Lumber Co spurs ... I am sure if I purchased the routes I could pick them apart to smitherines ... as they are very unrealistic, with fluffy puffy pleasent friendly trees, covering up a multitude if mistakes. All Fluff ... No stuff !

Harrisburg, Altoona, Johnstown, Pittsburgh are not pretty pristine places ... most areas were strip mined to Hell, and clearcut of all forest growth, and severe irreparable eternal erosion took place, scaring the jagged rugged landscape(s) forever.

This is from the 50's, so the locomotive on display there is still in mainline operation.

But everything else is wrong. Very wrong.

This 50's photo, it seems more ragged.
