Yeah that would be cool to see. Dont get me wrong I love Amtrak but I was thinking how cool it would be if PRR lived to see another day. I know they were going to extend electrification to Pittsburgh, via Horshoe curve but financial problems and other setbacks resulted in the termination of the project. Chicago wouldn't have been much more of a stretch. Could you imagine Acela sleeping cars, sweet, waith this is a Pennsy fantasy, nevermind.

Maybe something like this......

It's the year 2015 and with inflation running at 25% a year and gold at $10,000 per ounce, a cash strapped US government, owing trillions to the chinese, has been "privatizing" government assets and has sold Amtrak to a consortium of chinese banks. In order to damp down the xenophobic public reaction the chinese have bought the rights to the Pennsylvania Railroad name and logo from the Penn-Central corporation, now a private real estate investment trust. They plan on running trains under that name from NY to San Francisco in fifteen hours with luxury service, but of course only the chinese executives can afford to ride it, being much too costly for Americans with their worthless money.

Could be, could be.......

An ironic twist of fate, as the Chinese Executives speed by gangs of American Track Layers sweating in the sun...

The chinese still had to make some money carrying freight to support the new coast to coast hi speed passenger service. Here we see a 180 car unit train of ethanol headed south to the new shipping terminal on the Potomac in Washington, now a free trade zone city.
