ProTrain Perfect addons with Trainz2010?

Hi all,

My first post in this forum. I recently bought Trainz2010:EE and was wondering if it's possible to add the German ProTrain Perfect addons to it? I know that an earlier version of Trainz was sold in Germany under the ProTrain Perfect label, but don't want to buy another game engine when I've already got the (English language) most recent version.

One problem I foresee is difference in language diacritics ... I have no idea as to whether this would be a problem or not.

Cheers,

Dave

More info

I discovered this site (in German, but either use Google translate to translate or use the Chrome browser with the translate plugin that automatically translates any page you bring up!) which gives an example of how to either install the new version of ProTrain Perfect (ProTrain Perfect 2) to your existing Trainz2010:EE copy (in which case you get the stock and the routes but not the basic game engine, which, after all, is the same), or to install PTP2 as a separate install.

So the question now is what version of Trainz was the original version of ProTrain Perfect, and depending on that version is it possible to run this in Trainz2010? In other words, how far back is Trainz2010 compatible?

Cheers,

Dave

Hi Smectymnuus,

We don't provide support for either PTP or PTP2, however I can give you some basic info about what we provided for the builds:

* PTP is derived from TRS2006.
* PTP2 is derived from TS2010 SP3.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for the info! Now for one more question: can I import routes, rolling stock, objects, etc. from TRS2006 into my TS2010 (which is indeed SP3)? If so then the answer to my first question would be yes!

Cheers,

Dave

TS2010 is capable of using the vast majority of TRS2006 content, yes. If you can use Content Manager in TRS2006 to save the content out to a CDP or open it for edit, you can then drop the resultant files/directories onto TS2010's Content Manager to install them.

Thanks very much, Chris.
