Programming portals

Hi I’m using ECML EDingburgh to Dundee. Trying to use a portal to consume a train and emit the same train from another portal. I see that portal properties are only available in industry layer but don’t really want to mess with layers and am wondering if session rules can be used instead. I’ve used these to trigger a train being consumed in one portal triggering a train being emitted from anther portal but can’t see how to get the same train to be consumed in one portal and emitted from another. Thanks

The return from another portal can only be done from within the portal's properties window. By ticking the bottom box (train returns after) you can select what the train does and which portal it returns from.

I see, thanks for that. Can you tell me the best way to get into the different layers so that I can edit the portal properties, please.
Peter

I'm not seeing any difference editing Portal properties in TRS19 as compared to earlier versions of Trainz, but perhaps you haven't used earlier versions.

If you are busy laying track in a route using the tools in surveyor's Tracks tab, it is easy to overlook that you have to switch to surveyor's Objects tab to place a portal on the route and for editing its properties.

In surveyor, click on the Objects tab. Then select the question mark icon on the objects tab. Then click on the portal in your route. That brings up the properties dialog box for the portal.

Hi Dave
No I’ve only ever used Trainz on my iPad and enjoyed so much that I wanted to get into it more and purchased TRS19.
Just tried your suggestion, brilliant! Many thanks
Pete

Hi Pete
You're welcome.
You can often use the same procedure to bring up the dialog box for industries and the Multiple Industry New asset. Enjoy. :-)
