Product Problem

Hi
I have always been able to change/add/delete a wagons product, ie make a coal carrying wagon carry woodchips etc.
Now something has gone wrong for when I try to change any wagon I get a non fatal error message : ProductFilter.DoesAcceptProduct>null product.

I have obviously done something to make this happen but of course I don't know what ? has anybody got any ideas ?
I'm running TRS2006+SP1

Re-install?

But if you do consider this, make sure you have backed up all your downloads and custom content.

Hi Phil
Yeah I thought of this but if I back up the whole Auran file won't I just carry the problem with me when I re install ?
I'm trying to think what I've done in last 2 days as it was fine before that, but cannot think of anything. Its wierd all of my product just gone.
Cheers

...If the program runs, don't uninstall it...!

 Asid e of the time factor that will not fix the problem, your Trainz Asset Database will simply have to start all over, delaying your efforts until it is rebuilt.

My friend it's time for you to run Content Creator Plus(CCP) whilst in Content Manager Plus(CMP)...Ctrl+Shift+C.

The problem would be evident & rather obvious as you review the asset tree...

Under "queues," "load" you get one allowed-products tag...if it says anything like "bulk loads, general goods, delete that. Also, I don't haul non-edibles in a foods car. To add products, right click on the entry allowed-products, select Add a Product...

You get a KUIDBrowser...at the top is a drop-down list for all products installed. The entry will show NULL until you select a product.

You need an allowed-categories tag, right click on Load, then Add a Category. In the allowed-categories panel nothing will show. Right click on allowed-categories in the tree & select Add an allowed Product...a NULL entry shows up.

Click the edit box, with the ... . Another KUIDBrowser shows up...the top drop-down list says "none." Find "product-category" & select the entry Bulk Load.

The category & product selected, go to the kuid-table on the tree list & make the product changes you need to make, eliminate unneeded product or category entries.

Exiting CCP, you will need to save changes, then commit in CMP.

You can take a terrible mess & make a dedicated working asset of it using CMP & CCP.

Thanks but nothing happens when I press ctrl+shift+C.
I know nothing about computers so I also don't quite understand what your asking me to do ?
I just want to know where all my products have gone and how to get them back ?
Cheers

Go into CMP, search for your offending wagons. Find 1 r/click and use option edit in CCP then follow Backyards instructions. Repeat until happy.

...your started right..

 It's always a repetitive motion that gets something learned on a computer...Microsoft has at least three ways to do anything.

Just practice what you can in increments...if you don't like what you done, just don't save your changes...

  • Don't edit something you can't replace.
  • Don't edit anything in CCP that isn't broken.
  • Be careful about Auto-Running Number content(ARN)
  • If you mess something up(I did that today), you need to go to Edit & select Revert to see if it reverts back to original or uninstall & reinstall the content.
Many times you can leave the problem in Open for Edit mode, then come back later.

There is a manual way to edit content through Windows Explorer, but CCP gets the content updated in such a way that Trainz can log it into the Trainz Asset Database & out of a problem state...hopefully for good.

Thanks guys. I don't think I've explained the problem properly so let me recap and you tell me if you follow :
All my wagons will load what they are supposed to load ie the HTA wagon will load coal, but I used to be able to add say woodchips whilst in surveyor and load it but I cannot anymore, when I click on the add circle I used to get a little box open saying Products and listed was all the products for me to chose from.
Now what is happening when I click to add is an message as stated in my first post and the little box with Products is totally empty so where have the products ( about 120 ) of them gone and what does this error message mean ?
Also this is happening with the "MIN " indusrty track but not with any indusrty that has its product already ie a coal mine.
I'm really sorry to be a pain but I have never used computers until I bought Trainz. The companies I owned and sold 18 years ago did not use computers, I retired and I have steered clear of them ever since until Trainz so virtually anything you say has a " jargon " feel to it for me.

I have the same problem. It was discussed on the forum previously and Auran If I remember correctly could not reproduce the problem so no fix for it.
I have deleted and re insttaled but the problem persists. Registry checkers find no problem so at can only be that a Windows system file is responsible.
The only way to fix it is probably to reformat the drive , reinstall Windows etc.

Oh dear, so you cannot use any of the custom " min " industry tracks ? and only the ones already with product, that is so limiting. I just tried to add in the config file another product to a wagon and it did not add it when in surveyor the wagon showed it had no product.
Maybe its time to put trainz in the bin and look for another trains type game... shame though

...like a new language...

 Nah, anything you do with computers will only bring you back to the same old interface problem...you.

I recognize what you are saying & have played with CMP all night.

This is a tough act to explain as I have also met with assets that would formerly work ok but the next day...

Starting from the beginning of Auran Trainz we have had a pretty tough bunch that knows what they are doing, however we have had several major updates & releases to the game that have improved performance in a subtle way...some not so subtle.

The transition from TRS2004 to TRS2006 gave a learning curve as we call it. What was acceptable to '04 became legacy to '06.

I can think of several reasons why the chosen asset suddenly don't behave right, but as far as it goes, it was broken...the fix has been previously reported.

I used a demo for six months before I bought into the Auran Trainz program, so I had practice dealing with the program.

You cannot learn this over one night.

You must decide basically this...why do you wish to own a train-sim?

If it has anything to do with what you found in the beginning, continue on thus...you will learn by practice.

At 51 years, I have noticed that many young people are surprised by my knowledge of computers...I myself am surprised at the number of young people that are computer illiterate, can't spell, can't use punctuation, want to cuss, can't form sentences, use a stone-age creation called "firefox" that bunches all text into one ridiculus paragraph, can't even make a screenshot in-game(they have bu-cu pics in a folder they can't find) let alone post it on the web & generally post only to flame regular users...etc.

I need you to post the kuid number(it has a < and a > at each end. KUID means "kool-things user-id) like kuid:127571:8488 for this car your angst is about.

I have everything, so I probably spent a few minutes screaming at this one...(I don't do that, just kidding).

My whole deal past fixing this appliance is to illustrate how easy it is to take a covered hopper that carries 80,000kg of woodchips(never carried in a covered hopper...trust me) to a 100,000kg capacity car that either will carry foodstuffs or stuff that would kill you...or make your life better.

Let us help with this & any other project you need to know.

The Auran Trainz Community is the most friendly of any bunch, as far as train-simulation gets.

Welcome to the Auran Forum Community!

I'm 57 and retired at 38 and never used a computer in my business. For most of my life I have had a " real " model railway but my health is such that I can no longer enjoy it so someone suggested Trainz and when all goes well its great... when it goes wrong the fantastic trainz community helps me out providing they give me exact step by step instuctions, if you assume I know nothing your still over estimating me. !

Its not really one car, its mainly the " MIN " industry tracks, when I click on the + sign I get the error message and the little box shows no product at all. I don't know what I've ( mistakenly ) done to cause this.

So my questions are : Where has my products gone and how do I get them back ? What does the error message actually mean " ProductFilter.DoesAcceptProduct.null product> "
Why cannot I go to wherever this product filter is and put it right ?

These things are why I don't understand computers
Any help greatly appreciated
Cheers

...no offense intended...

 Big-D, I like the fact you had businesses to sell...you need that supervisory experience to run railroads!

We now focus on the center of the problem...I cannot recognize MIN at this point...having stayed up all night...

Please name the route & particular industries...seams like a pass-match problem with your chosen traincar.

My focus is to edit a route for smooth ops, post a workable train to start at point A, go to the load-out & return to a portal where the train may return empty for another dispatch...times 5...or seven...

Here is an opt out for traincars that will load...enter 117290 in the search box for the Download Station(DLS). Check the kuid box because it is the kuid for content made by user "nzhorse."

Download InstantLoad & InstantUnload & finish-out in CMP...you will need to add this to your Driver Commands in Surveyor to your chosen route.

This will instantly load or unload your commodities train-wide, so long as the traincars take a load...

This is not a fix that would apply to the caseload mentioned above, but with working traincars, it will load or unload your consists.

I have, by pure coincidence, encountered the same problem today. In fact this was not the first time, but I did not remember the solution until I read this thread. To get back the products and a working multiple industry go to CMP2 and look for faulty assets of the category commodity. If there is only one commodity with a fault, the above described errors occur. After deleting (or repairing) the faulty assets everything should be working fine again. I had downloaded a new route today and in this process acquired some faulty assets. Now I have deleted them again, everything is okay.

...watch the consonants...

 I think we are talking TRS2006 using CMP.

CMv2 is TS2009....either way...

If the route was set-up for action but not saved under a particular name, then maybe you went back into an original version...?

Ok, your are right. I did not look close enough. But still, it was the same problem with the multi industry and I could solve it as described. Maybe it's worth a try in TRS2006 as well. If it doesn't help there, sorry for having bothered you.

Thanks guys but I'm not sure what you mean. whats a " category commodity " ? Nomen could you explain in step by step detail.

I looked at some products in the cmp and they were all ok !
When I say " MIN " I mean Multiple Industry New for example, a bit of track that you can add products to for loading and unloading.

Can someone try to answer the secific questions I asked in my last post.
Cheers
PJ

...well yes...

 ...that's what CCP does...

The "wrong" product may just be where the Content Creator entered a "allowed-categories" entry into the "allowed-products" tag.

Dig? Allowed Catagories define bulk, passenger, general goods, etc.

Allowed-Products means coal, grain, malt, barley, beer...

Don't be afraid to enter into my discussions, that's the how we all learn...I may not be right all the time...

Sorry I'm not with you at all.
Why has all my product gone and I cannot add any to an industry track, I just need an answer to this
Do you understand what has happened
Cheers
