Had to go away for a couple of days so I waited to hit you with this series of um er funnys!
This started last monday 17th. I had d/led a route from tpr (proto something) and tried to go into cmp (2006) and got the MS message. After trying a few tricks that I have learn't I could not get CMP to work. 2006 worked fine but no new route,OK back to helpdesk who's response was quick (1 day I thank you) but their suggestions did not help. At this stage,I decided to copy the complete 2006 file to an external drive and reinstall 2006. Got the same act.CMP will not load. Now it tells me that interfacetext.chump file could not be found. Paintshed loaded from the file menu says lang=us not found.
I have 2004 on another drive which gets me to the d/l station to write this but also will not work. MS message appears when I hit the helper. I have d/l 100+meg of driver files for nvidia and directx9c still to no avail. I have preordered 2009 already and I'm worried that something here might stop it from working too! What do you think. Is there something I'm missing?

Paintshed in TRS2006 only works from CMP and what is the error msg when you load up CMP?

1. What version of Trainz have you got running on your PC?.
2. Trainz and CMP need atleast min of 2gig of ram to run smoothly on your PC and make sure no other programs are running in the background.
3. What version of windows have you got on your PC, if vista make sure Trainz is installed as an administrator on your PC.
4. Have you ran Trainzdiag? to see if your PC passes all tests to run Trainz: C:\Program Files\Auran\TC\Bin\TrainzDiag
5. Have tried deleting the assets.tdx and assets.bku files? so CMP will re-build the Trainz assets database: C:\Program\Files\Auran\TC\assets.tdx and C:\Program Files\Auran\TC\Cache\assets.bku
6. Have you got Microsoft .NET Framework installed on your PC?.
7. To disable sounds in CMP: In CMP go to file then settings then miscellaneous tab then tick disable sounds in CMP.
8. Have you got the latest video card drivers installed for your Graphics card?, recommended Graphics cards are ATI or Nvidia with a min of 256mb ram.
9. Is Trainz giving you fatal errors? fatal errors are caused by a number of things: Faulty content, Scripting errors, Software configuration or Faulty hardware, threads on Fatal Errors link here and also here.
10. You still can't get CMP or Trainz working then list your PC Spec here.
11. CMP or Trainz still not working for you?, must be a problem with your Trainz installation, you may need to re-install Trainz again. Once you have uninstalled Trainz and rebooted your PC it is handy to use a registry cleaner to remove any remaining entries for Trainz in the Windows Registry, try CCleaner: http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/ and then reinstall Trainz.
12. Still no joy in getting CMP or Trainz working: must be a hardware or another software issue on your PC.

Well now. Thanks for your reply ahsan. I just spent 5 minutes typing a reply to you (basically going thru each point with you. Only one I didn't do was the reg cleaner) I tried to sent and was told I was not logged in yet I logged in and was accepted. This is 2nd message I'll see if it does it again. If so, there must be a virus on my system.

OK I,ve cleaned the registry,done everything including taking 2004 off my other drive. Still no success.Trainz works well but cmp comes up with the dreaded M/S message .Sorry content manager has encountered a problem and needs to close. Short of getting a new computer,I don't know what else I can do. Ahsan,s and helpdesks ideas have all been followed.

Hello

Delete assets.tdx and assets.bku files, so CMP will re-build the Trainz assets database: C:\Program\Files\Auran\TC\assets.tdx and C:\Program Files\Auran\TC\Cache\assets.bku.

It will take a while for CMP to build the DLS assets database, go for a coffee and cake then come back to your PC click the CMP DLS Tab, all assets will be their.

Once again Ahsan thanks for your interest.
I have deleted and loaded assets each time I have installed on my computer to no avail.What's the TC in the path? I don't have that on either computer. Also, each time I've installed, the program run and no error appears in the sessions that I tried. CMP will just not load.
ON my wifes computer, CMP does load but I cannot get any D/L assets. All local assets are there (which are all builtin of course)I ,ve checked my profile and all serial numbers match. It may turn out to be something minor that I have not done BUT I don't see what it could be.
Trainzdiag give full ok's on both computers. One other thing, I could not find an assets bku file on either machine?

Hello

The assets bku file is a backup of assets.tdx file, if its not their no need to worry just delete the assets.tdx file.

C:\Program\Files\Auran\TRS2006\assets.tdx and C:\Program Files\Auran\TRS2006\Cache\assets.bku.

Deleting these files CMP will re-build the assets database, did this not work for you? CMP does not launch for you at all?.

Try deleting the files again, launch CMP again and let it build the database.

CMP also needs OpenGL drivers to run. what type of Graphics card is on your PC? and have got the latest Graphics card drivers installed?.

Also make sure you have Microsoft .NET Framework installed. Sometimes the video codec can cause problems so to prevent this put the following line in your TrainzOptions.txt file
-intro=disable

Well I,ve decided on a complete reformat.There is something wrong with windows. I spoke to tony and we both agreed that it is not trs2006. Actually, 2006 is a big improvement over 2004 with my computer. Not once did I get fatal errors that were not easily fixed. CMP is a wonderful tool and I expect will be even better when 2009 arrives. That's partly the reason for the reformat. Ahsan, thanks for the help.I learned a lot of hints. Mayby one day I'll put some of the routes I,ve done on the DL. I,ve got blender now so the next step is content. I,d really like to do animated content so a lot of reading is required. See you

I had many of the same problems you had with CMP. I re-installed trains 2006 then downloaded and installed sp1 immediately afterward. Before doing this though go into C:/aruan/trainz 2006 and move your contents and local folders to a different place. This is necessary because you can keep your current content. Delete Trainz 2006 and then reinstall the game. Important: After the game has been reinstalled do not, I repeat do not launch the game right away. If you launch before installing sp1 you'll end up having the same problems. Immediatly go an get the sp1 patch and download and install it. Then remove the contents and local folders that were installed with the fresh install and replace them with the content and local folders you set aside earlier. Then launch trainz. CMP should work a lot better. It did mine.
