Hi guys as you can see my model I'm building for my proto route...

but the white silo's on the roof and the piping that goes with it shows up fine in max but when I add it to Trainz it flat and has no definition.

???

how can I get the pipe to show as pipe and silo's to show as round silo's LOL

as you can see the difference from max to game ... what do I need to do to show the detail up.???

at first I thought it might have beenthe texture not showing up in the game ... but I changed it to a grey colour and the items changed to grey..

Try adding some weathering to your texture. A solid color, especially white, is going to give you this problem since static objects in Trainz won't give you any shadow effects. You can see in your first screenshot that you are getting some shadowing effect on the cylindrical forms.

Ok I'll see what IO can come up with..

but on that I have seen some silo/tanks with light/shadow effects. i'll find them and post pic tomorrow getting bit late now...

If not weathering, you might try a texture that has some gradation in the color across the texture. This might give you a resemblance to some shadows on those cylindrical forms.

you can change the material settings so that the diffuse/ambient is not totally white, and set specular to some dark gray color. adding normal/spec maps would also help a lot. also NEVER use a color like pure white or pure black on a model. it is the fastest way to ensure that it wont be anything like real life.

Thanks to another knowledgeable Trainzer (Vulcan).. Ian informed me that added Light 1 to the Config would go a long way to solving the issue it does and with the aged texture I'm working in it should look much better .. even with the change to the config it looks way better..
