Probably another dumb question to which there is a simple answer!

I was going to ask something here but needed to insert an image from my PC but when I go to 'Insert image' it only accepts from a URL - does that mean that you cannot insert direct from a PC?

No need to worry, it's absolutely not a dumb question! Everyone here has been thrown off by that at least once in the past, but the solution is simple.

Upload your photos to http://hostthenpost.org
Insert your photos in a post using the link given to you on the website after uploading
Enjoy!

Also, F5 turns off the HUD in trainz. Helpful for screenshots

Cheers

That's right, you have to upload the pic to an image hosting site, then link to it here.

OK, many thanks guys! Is it me or does that sounds like a long way around something that should be simple?

If you want a bit more of the technical side of things.

Most forum software have a file hosting system encoded into them; however a lot of individual forums have this feature turned off, or severely restricted. On AMTZ I have the system turned on, but only for Staff. That's why the language makes it sound like you can just grab a file off your computer and post it.

The primary reason people turn it off, is due to server space (then bandwidth) A simple website for forum takes up very little space on a server & so a web server can in fact be quite small. However with a bunch of people uploading their uncompressed images (the 'average joe' doesn't compress images for web) to the server it will fill up quite quickly. You can also run into bandwidth issues, when you have a bunch of people online at the same time.
