Posting protocol - question on old topics

Hi all, quick question on posting protocol here. I am close to releasing an updated version of one of my old routes, for which there is already a topic here from way back (the route was first released in 2008). My question is should I resurrect that topic to pass on the new details, or should I start a new topic?

I know some places are fussy about thread-necromancy, so thought I'd better check, seeing as I haven't been active here for some time.

Thanks.

Please do not bump old threads to simply say a link is dead. This is not adding to the discussion, and can really clutter up the forums (imagine if this happened with even just 5-10 threads in a forum section, you would begin to get lost on what is current, and what isn't).

If you are adding something to the discussion (E.g. providing new info on a topic, or answering/assisting with a research question), then there's no issue.

'Nuff said.

My understanding is that bumping an extremely old, seemingly dead thread: That it is perfectly OK to bump a years old thread ... just as long as you have relevant screenshots to post, or new intelegent information that is pertainent to the original thead topic.

Bumping old posts with reckless abandon, with nonsence is :p

An example of how not to bump an old thread: "Is this thread dead yet " ?

It is probably okay to bump a thread you originally started as it may well have lain dormant while something is being worked on behind the scenes.

I'm just impressed that someone asked. Pauldurose must be a gentleman indeed, and I'm guessing older than 30! Kudos to you Sir!:)
