Portals, Variables and Odometers

Having searched with no results, I'm looking for a rather
simple portal that is scripted to save the odometer reading
from portal entry to portal exit.

Spending days running a session and having a unit with
several hundred miles registered going into the portal
only to come out the other side with a reading of "0" is
a bit discouraging.

I know pguys' Portal Manager appears to do this but
I would like something a bit more elementary without
the scheduling functions.

Many Thanks.

This may be shocking to you, but the train that goes into a portal is gone for good. Now, as per your settings, it comes back!.. but it is not the same as the one that got in. Hence, the accumulated odometer miles and other things such as priority, cargo, etc. start as per the default of the vehicle. Try this: load a non default cargo you can see on a flat platform. Send the consist into a portal and look at the load when the wagon comes back. Be amazed to the magic, the load now is the first on the loading queue of the wagon. Do the portal manager fixes all this?, don't know, I use portals only for basic in and out in one minute. If you set it for longer, let's say 30 minutes, and you forget the train is inside, and you save the session, the train will never come out when you open the session later. You could, of course, create another consist using that clever consist editor in T:ANE, but the original consist.. is lost, and you have to reprogram all the AI commands.
