Payware Complaints

Now I've hear a lot about payware complaints as of lately, even a controversial topic called payware: my biggest complaint. I say payware is fine as much as I hate spending the little money I do receive on somewhat consistent basis, it could be a lot more. So I'm willing to pay in order to receive the best trains out there on the market. With that being said, it's somewhat expensive coming from me who doesn't get a whole lot of money so whenever I have the chance to buy content from WOT, RRMods, or Jointed Rail, I usually take a full advantage of the situation. Now the reason why payware might be an issue for some people is because money doesn't go as far as it once did. Thanks in large part of hyperinflation in the USA and now its spreading to other parts of the world unfortunately. Like for instance, a small bag of Cheetos when my grandmother was growing up in the 1950s and 1960s was about 10 cents. Today it ranges from 99 cents to 1.50 depending where you get it from so it does make a huge difference. I don't know if everyone will agree but I though I'd just share that with you.

I'm confused. What's your point? Are you trying to say that payware needs to be cheaper? I've probably been lucky to make 10 cents per hour on my creations, so how cheap are we supposed to be?

No I'm just making a case for the people who probably are harsh against anti-payware folks. The prices are okay but keep in mind some people have differences in what payware is affordable to them. I don't mind $10 but it makes me a little bit more cautious about what I choose to get solely on the fact I don't get a lot of money and it's not often I do so I have to be very careful and I think everyone should be careful.

I learned very young that things cost money and that if I didn't have the money to buy it, I got out and worked a little harder so I could get the money to buy it. If I couldn't, I didn't buy it. No one has a right to something just because they want it. They have to earn it.

Now let the fight begin......again.

There is no fight it's just a little harder to get what they want knowing what we are in. In America people are getting laid off from their jobs and they could be the most experienced, trusted, respected, and liked person on the job but it doesn't matter. Instead we, myself included, pay tax money to help illegal immigrants find a way to get in the country and steal our benefits. So I refuse to pay any money until the gov't gets its act together and priorities are straight. Not they've ever been but I guess jail is worth it because I want to fight for what's mine and what I believe in.

Yeah, earning it makes it's so much more than payware. It makes it something someone can take pride in and something for them to feel good about. Not just to look cool.

I'm pro payware. Obviously! It makes the world go round! A little competition is great for innovation. Look at how far JointedRail and RRMods has come.

Now, part of it does have to do with changing times. 2004 is considered a stone age considered to the technologically enhanced year of 2011. However, a lot can be contributed to Jointed Rail as an indirect influence for both of them to refine their methods and products.

...now then...

EDIT:
Nevermind, he just mentioned gov'ment stuff!

Kris:
EVERYONE knows what the times are. I'm affected by it. It's not the price, but it's just too much of a luxury to consider worth paying for when my mom and dad struggle just to get milk. That's why it's not selling. I'm sure everyone knows that. A lot of payware providers have had a lot of sales and contests to help not only even things out, but to also promote their products and increase sales. (since they too feel the pain)

Cheers,
Joshua

You've had a few threads closed and this one will get closed very quickly if this topic turns political. Read the CoC. Whether you can buy a piece of content or not has a lot more to do with your priorities with your money than it does with politics.

I support payware but it's amazing how fast money can go away which is my point due how sparse money is and that's why I don't usually get it right away or hold back temporarily so I can have money for other things.

You guys are posting too fast for me to type!

Haha. Yeah, back off politics and everything we'll be cool.

I haven't bought payware for a long time because of money. (+ only having TRS2006)

It's okay. I wouldn't even call it a complaint.

Resume fast typing posting. (or whatever)

Cheers,
Joshua

Well it's why I opened my store everything .99 cents

That being said I spend cash with JointedRail and they spend cash with me, it's a beautiful world and life is good

I agree with that which others have said, if I want to purchase payware (and have bought an extensive collection for Trainz over the years) I'll earn the money to do so, as having known some ex-payware creators, I know fully, how long and how much hard work goes into research and so on, before the item is released - not to mention the thankless hours which can and do, turn into weeks, months, etc...

Not going to lie Mike, your meshes are awesome. Textures are a little to clean for my tastes, but still very nice. Can't really make my (weathered lol) opinion a complaint. ;) Simply put: I has no money. :(

Personally, real shame to see your content go. I wonder... does e-bay allow virtual marts?

Economics are what they are. Can't blame you.

Thanks. Weathering just isn't my specialty, but I don't really like them that dirty anyway. I like to model the eras when locos were kept a little cleaner.
Don't get me wrong. I don't want anyones sypathies about closing my shop. Life goes on and life without creating content will go on. The only reason that I made my announcement thread was to give everyone a chance to purchase before they go away.

Well I guess my planned 2-8-4 commission will go down the drain unfortunately so next man up I guess.

Right. I loved how N&W used to love to wash everything! That was a pretty neat thing to see coal trains with clean steam locomotives.

I have some 2-8-4's on my site. I'm supposing that you wanted a different skin. If so, sorry, but if you don't like the price of payware, then I'm almost positive that you wouldn't like the price of a commission. Maybe someone else will make one for you, but don't look for one soon unless someone's working on one that I'm not aware of. These things aren't created overnight. It takes hundreds of hours and members were asking for a Berkshire for at least 2 or 3 years that I know of before I decided to make one. For the community's sake, I really do hope someone is working on one, but if it isn't freeware, they shouldn't be expecting too much return on their investment of time and resources.

Yeah, my Santa-Fe is probably the dirtiest one that I've done and it really isn't all that dirty. I just like them better that way and I hope it doesn't seem selfish, but first of all, I'm building them for myself and then after that, I have offered them to the community. If someone wants to dirty one up, I'm sure that they can work on the textures and dirty them up themselves if they want if they're proficient with textures. I know my failings and happens to be just one of them.
