Patch not applied

Well I'm having exactly the same problems as described Chris. I noticed that the original post mentioned a velocoraptor HDD which is the same as I am using.

So, I have reinstalled ts2009 completely and manually deleted all files and references to it. I have disabled write caching on the HDD. I tried then to patch to 38017 but that failed saying that a dll (7c.dll or something like that) file was corrupt. I have just tried to start trainz and it has now offered to autopatch which is downloading as I write. This will be the 3rd 400meg dl attempt and I 'm hoping it will work with write caching disabled and AV etc off.

Also my previous installation had been patched to 38599 and this will hopefully be dling a different patch file. I'll let you know if this works in an hour or so after the patch dl's and tries to install.

Existing file is damaged and cannot be patched: C:\Program Files\Auran\TS2009\bin\TETData\newForminfo-CZ.txt

Failed to apply the patch: 38017_to_40040
Patching aborted.

I guess I will wait for a solution as I cant see any point in pursuing this any longer. I cant gimp my system any more than I already have and and I obviously need to reinstall trainz yet again.

Well I'm having exactly the same problems as described Chris.

Most of the posts here don't seem to be reporting problems with their installations, but rather that the patch is failing to install. Are you having problems with your installation after the patch failed?

You may want to try using Windows Safe Mode to run the patcher - some people have reported that this resolves the problem.

Out of interest, which build number are you patching from this time around?

thanks,

chris

i had no problem with the patch..it came up and I clicked on it and shut the monitor off and went to bed...in the morning all done....L

Well after another clean install I have patched it 38599 with no problems. I do know that there is absolutely no problems with my system. It's runs everything beautifully and this is the only file I have ever had reported as corrupted. I have tried all the solutions mentioned in this thread so far. I have downloaded it manually, I have tried it in safe mode, I have gimped everything mentioned and no joy so far. So I am at a loss as to how to move forward with it. Anyway guys I'll keep checking in and have another pick at it tomorrow perhaps, thanks for all the help.

I'm patching it, and it is moving slower than molasis, which I'm just going to let it sit. The only problem is that when I first started the patch, it was telling me that Trainz was trying to do other things, which is impossible, since it is, other than AIM, the only thing open. Would that have any adverse effect on the patching? AIM I mean.

Take care,

Uninstaller provided...

 In your TS2009 Folder there is an uninstaller.exe file.

It's also on the Start Menu/All Programs/Auran.

This time I downloaded the patcher to D:\, and then ran it with the following result:

Patching install: D:\Program Files\Auran\TS2009

The status bar showed one green rectangle for about 3 min and then suddenly there were 28, about halfway across, and the error message appeared. I hope that is of some use.

Patching the patch

It took well over an hour to get the patch installed and several attempts but finally made it. It downloaded after I restarted my PC but it is a long drawn out process. Thought Auran was supplying a whole new game. However the process did abort after several fixes had been installed and said updating to 40040 had failed. However on staring up game 40040 had been installed. There are some errors that have occured. I now have two waybills on my screen. Side by side and both the same. Also consists are all named %dl.

Greatnorthern.

sp2 problem

couldn't get it to work on XP after 3 attempts got it to work on vista after reinstalling
but quite a few assets had ? marks by them also when I added my local it crashed twice I have decided to go back to the last patch as I had no trouble with that
the saying goes if it isn't broke don't try to fix it.:D

How did you add your local ? If you just moved it back that is possibly why you had problems. You have to import your old local file as SP2 does work to the content that SP1 and original 2009 didn't.

Mine says the files have already been patched but it still says 38017..
some one please help me im becoming desperate for an answer!

Thanks :-)

This error indicates that the patch installer was unable to "unzip" the patch data for some reason. This may be caused by a corrupted download, but it's also feasible that there's something else going wrong. Have you tried booting into windows safe mode and patching from there?

thx,

chris

As already stated in the first posting; I did indeed try in safe mode to no avail. Today I downloaded the patch three times and went through all the logical steps and still nothing happened.

But! As I have two licenses, I tried to have a look at the 2009 installed on my Vista based laptop and lo and behold: the auto patch function works - progress is slow, very very slow but nevertheless it works.

Hence without jumping to conclusions I think we are looking at something XP related.

My workaround will be to move the entire 2009 folder with indegenous subfolders from laptop to workstation and then hopefully things work out as supposed. But that is not helping those without this option.

BTW! My XP pro (Danish) is running SP3 with all current updates applied.
