Other Simulations Games

Since 2001
Hello Community,

Do anyone here play other simulations, more especially those sold from N3V site?

Thanks for sharing !!!

Ish

I play Cities in Motion. It's fun, but not quite realistic. At no time in a real city would 100 people be waiting for a bus at every stop.

Coincidentally, I also play CIM. 100 at a bus stop is possible in a real city if the buses are not frequent or are delayed (especially during rush hours).

Hi Shane and everybody.
I am posting this from a Manchester bound HST where me and my wife and a few other friends are heading to see Manchester United pick up the premiership trophy and Alex Ferguson retire as the greatest Premier league manager ever

Anyway, in the quiet moments on the train with everybody slumbering after a hard day (I skived off work early and got some shuteye before we got on the train) so I have picked up your posting Shane and here are my recollections of what is on my Windows 8 PC at home and my assessment of them. You have to bear in mind I have very little time these days for any gaming so not everyone will agree with my thoughts on the various programs:-

1) Train simulator 2013 (very good, development has come a long way in the last two years)

2) Ship Simulator Extremes (very relaxing simulator to use with excellent graphics)

3) FSX flight simulator (poor graphics and scenery and very expensive for add-ons such as aircraft and airports etc)

4) Geoff’s flight simulator (this is an excellent free flight simulator based on Google Earth would recommend to anybody but it is not the one that is actually programmed within Google Earth)

5) World of subways ( very complicated to operate and with the limited time I have so far never got any of the trains to actually move. Graphics look fairly good though.)

6) Bus Simulator (used once, absolute rubbish)

7)Trainz 2010 (nearly forgot that one, was great when I had time to build my route. Might get back to that when i manage to eventually retire)

8) European truck simulator (never used that one and cannot see why anybody wanted to buy me it)

I've gotten into Farming Sim 2013. I really enjoy it, I attribute that to being raised on a farm.

Thank Guyz for your input -- I am surprise that no one else play other sim games!

About N3V -- Surprise there is not a good firefighting sim from them!

Hi ish.
Yes I am surprised that you did not have more postings on this thread. I was certainly expecting that quite a number of forum members would have substantially more than the eight simulation games than I have on my home PC. Perhaps it is that the trainz community section of the forum seems to be bereft of much input at all these days where a few years ago it seemed to be quite a virulent and widely used section.

As I have stated due to work pressures I do not get much time for trainz or any other of my simulation games these days. I do look into the forum regularly during the course of my working rail travels around Britain and the forum seems to get quieter by the month. Perhaps that's just me with a false impression. Anyway, thanks for what should have been an enjoyable and interesting thread ish

So far as train sims go I am a regular user of Railworks and MSTS, though no longer develop routes for the latter as the tech has moved on.

I have FSX installed but haven't flown for over two years. At one point I was flying for several VA's and ended up burning out.

The only decent milsim of late has been Blackshark which I never bothered with due to the Starforce copy protection. Sadly military flight sims which I used to love seem to have gone the way of the dodo.

Back on the trains, I have all three World Of Subways plus the San Francisco transit game but used infrequently. WOS1 the route was too short, WOS2 was a good route but the curves approaching stations way to sharp. WOS3 (The LUL Circle Line) is probably the best but suffered from shonky physics and a rather poor rendition of London cut and cover tunnels.

Euro Truck Sim 2 is very good as you can find yourself hopping from one city to another and never getting back to where you started! There's also a business/strategy mode you can play if you so desire. SCS Software is supposed to be developing a Euro Bus and Coach sim which, if it comes to pass, should be very promising.

The OMSI bus sim I've touched briefly but not quite engaged with it.

Hi Bill,

Today's sims are much cooler then yesteryears, and it seems yesteryears people played more of them then, then now! With all of the transportation sims games on the market today, I am surprise more folks have not play them --- I mean, you can plan a route in those other sims, and than translate it to Trainz!

Hi Vern --
Thanks for your input!!!

Ish

from time to time I play a bit of EEP, which is a model railroad simulation, which has definitely developed over the last years.

I really like omsi, which has been developed by Marcel Kuhnt (a Trainz pioneer, which brought the heavily scripted berlin subway route.

It represents everything, I miss in Trainz, but unfortunately with busses. It has been done with very few recources in a relativly short time, but the result is impressive and shows, what can be done, if you have the knowledge and the addiction for you product... .

Good Morning All --

Anyonne else play other sims???

I've been checking out your guys sims on youtube --- a few are really cool!!!

Hi Ish and Everyone.
I was looking at this thread again the other night while travelling down from Manchester by rail. This posting took my interest as I have never engaged in any games that could be played directly through the web browser.

I been getting into iRacing lately.

Even on my tab the advertising video for iRacing looked brilliant which got me thinking (especially with the sales of PCs falling in Europe over 30% this year) could the full version of trainz be developed so as to be played online without having to download the base game and content etc.

Does anybody believe it could be made possible that you could not only drive your favourite consists, but also develop your routes with all the content which would be stored on the cloud within the N3V servers which would enable users to access their routes anywhere any time and continue their hobby on perhaps a smart TV suitably equipped with a trainz app. Another advantage would be such as now, with myself. I am posting this from a British HST rail service returning back from London to North Somerset. It will be great if I could not only access the forum while travelling, but also work on any route I was developing or perhaps with others even content.

Hope ish6 you do not think I am taking your thread off topic , but I thought as I have always believed you have far more computer expertise than I have, you could share your thoughts on my thinking (LOL). If not, perhaps others who have been involved in this thread or on the forum such as RSignal or someone like him could give us their views on whether the above is possible or perhaps someday come about.

Hi wholbr, You need to re-organise those priorities and retire so you can get on with Trainz! LOL

Hi rj, don’t worry I am still trying to retire, but recruiting someone with the industrial safety experience and qualifications we need has turned out to be a nightmare. I would never have believed before we started interviewing that in a country with supposedly two and a half-million unemployed there is such a situation. They turn young people out of education with degrees or A-levels in media studies, dance, catering etc (you name it), but industrial qualifications you can forget it (LOL)

Sorry for the rant at the end, sore point
Bill.

Like a lot of trainzers, I have X-Plane 10 and FSX installed. I also have the open source Flight Gear, which has improved at a remarkable rate.
On my system I have, and use to a much lesser degree, Eurotruck 2, Railworks 2013 and Silent Hunter V.
Not to mention several sitting in their boxes, once loved but past their use by date. Sail simulator V, Ship Sim Extremes, MSTS, and all the old Trainz versions.
I had a laugh yesterday when I saw on the Steam page "Surgeon Simulator". Given I have a touch of Hemophobia, I wonder if I should give that a pass?

I loved and enjoy X-Plane, the early first version, when PC' where so new unlike today's pc --- One of the best features that x-plane had was real weather from the real world --- via online weather data!!!
