Other Simulations Games

Hello Ishie, :)

I just saw your thread, so, decided to put my 2 pennies worth in......:hehe:

I have only purchased the various Trainz version games directly from N3V/Auran, however, I also play other simulator games, mostly from DVD's bought on Amazon, etc, I have FlightSim, ShipSim, RailSim and EuroTruck Sim2 which I love, it's absolutely brilliant, and having a passion for big lorries I enjoy driving around Europe, finding the cheapest Gas Station to refuel is quite fun and as Vern states SCS are expanding the European map and offering us more trucks and trailers in the future, I play it quite regularly, it even has moving trains and planes that make it more authentic.
The other Sims like Farming, Road Construction, Fishing, Street Cleaning, Skiing, etc, don't appeal to me at all, in fact some of the titles released make me laugh, Bacteria Simulator2 for example, so, enjoy the most from your chosen hobby.

I have MSTS and I do enjoy driving steam locos around in that one, with automatic fireman off. :)

I use Failworks too.

I do own Flight Simulator 2002. I bought it at a garage sale for $4. I don't use it much as the graphics are pretty terrible.

Then there's Railking Model Railroad Simulator, an absolutely terrible game that took me 3 months to figure out how to actually make the trains move! i'm not even sure if it can be classed as a simulator!

I am really thinking about getting a truck simulator as I do enjoy driving the trucks around in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. If only the truck sims came with vintage trucks! :D

And that's about it at this stage.

Kieran.

I play CIM, Trainz TS12, SimCity (new and old), and a couple of the older Command and Conquer games which I've had for ages. When I'm annoyed, I love beating up the AI players! :)

I saw the European Truck Simulator in action about a month ago. It seems pretty interesting. It's too bad that this type of economic model couldn't be added into Trainz. That would bring the multiplayer version of TS12 up a notch from just driving trains around.

Command and Conquer games

Good Morning,

Command and Conquer: Renegade ... the most underrated game in history, perhaps --- sad and pathetic when EA dropped it -- the online gameplay was super awesome, especially on serves that catered to 50 players, and this was like 8-10 years ago --- Later, dedicated 3rd party groups began creating MODs helped the game expand further new vehicles where introduced like motorcycles, etc ... I recall 10 motorcycles running through the back mountains on this huge MOD, and we came behind a group of tankers -- Oh, man, those where the days -- Never understood why EA drop it from expanding on it! I guess when a company like EA gets so large, making billions, they forget how they got there! -- I recall being games from EA back in the early 80s -- Just my 2 cents!

Thanks John -- I got flashbacks, with Renegade!
Kind Regards
Ish

I'm more of a strategy guy, I still play CIV4 occasionally, loved the Close Combat games and got started on the SSI General series back in the day. I have played Sim City up to V4, I'm not sure if I want to get into V5, I don't know if I like the whole Steam idea.

I would like to hear more about World of Subways, I was looking at it mainly for the PATH Route, and it is on sale right now.

Hi Boc,

I recall the early days of C&C Generals and the early versions of Sim City --- Today's young folks might look at these games and not respective them due to their graphics, etc but did we spend hours playing them! :D

I still admire the old Command & Conquers (including the first Red Alert, best C&C ever!) and kinda dislike the newer ones. Generals, Red Alert 2, Red Alert, Tiberium Sun, and Command and Conquer always had a good modding community and pretty good factions ('cept the Soviets in Red Alert, rush with the Heavy Tanks!) ;)

There is RW3. It's probaly the most realistic Train simulator that I know of. people say it has a cartoonish feel to it but I do not agree.

I recently reinstalled Sim City 4 and am having a blast with it. I found the music files from the original SC2000 and put them into SC4 and am loving the nostalgia. I never got around to the C & C games. I saw a set in WalMart recently and thought about giving them a try.

I spend a lot of time playing Dune 2000, just love it although it is long in the tooth.
I also enjoy fishing and hunting on the PC and in real life.
PC chess is also ok for me.

Hmm, lets see other games / simulators, of course Ms FSX although that started here with version 3.0 for Dos. :hehe:
As a Dutchman the Ship Simulator series for sure, originally created by a firm in Rotterdam.
Lately Minecraft, very entertaining but not really a sim and last but certainly not least the Kerbal Space Program, great fun and definitely not as easy as it looks at first.
And when one really is fed up with the real world there's of course Skyrim, Oblivion, Deus Ex, Wolfenstein and some more of those flavors. ;)

Greetings and seasonal best wishes from nighttime Amsterdam,

Jan

I recently have gotten into World of Tanks. I'm The_Right_Arm on WoT add me as a friend if you play, lemme know if anyone wants to platoon sometime.

I play
Star Trek Online (Vulnair)

War Thunder (Kag)
World of Tanks (Bluewater364)

EDIT: 600! WHOOHOO!!!

Hi Ish,

Still run Trainz TC, 9, 10 & 12.
Love Transport Tycoon last and best version, also have RW 2012 & 13 but really find them a bit childish to play and impossible in builder mode.
I have tried Flight, Ship & Sub Sims and also Trains Giant and Trainz Giant Gold really not the same feel as Trainz.
Have had a shot at MSTS in the early days found it awkward and also BVE 5 same deal.
Played Sim City various versions years ago never went back to it but they were fun.

Really do love the scope of Trainz and look forward to the Trainz New Era.

Try out Transport Tycoon and try to make the biggest city that's always a great challenge (quicker in cheat mode LOL).

World of Tanks (Bluewater364)
Hopefully I'll be able to platoon with ya sometime. Right now I haven't been able to connect to a WOT server since I installed the latest client update (which you sadly can't play without). NA East/West both say either my internet settings are screwed up, and if I hit Auto it won't connect (even after i let it sit for 30 mins!). You havin' this problem?
