OK, who's been mucking it up this time ???

Taddaemon is reporting "Failed to download or parse 'http://www.auran.com/games/gamefiles/trainz/scripts/recordManagr/../../DLSFlies/RecordManager/DumpV2/Daily/20150501.txt.gz' on my machine. As per John, all I seem to do each week is end up using the program for a day or two before meltdown.

I think this is an issue in that maybe some of us have now got too much trainz downloads and the poor Taddaemon cannot cope anymore!

Regards.
CaptEngland (I hope TANE does not have this problem!) (Please be right Clam)

Hi again, TS12 SP1 HF4 did a full re-validation this afternoon. I then performed a QDR. I now have access to all my DLC but I now have 141 assets with missing dependencies however when I look to see what is missing the assets show 0 broken, 0 missing dependencies, 0 broken dependencies, 0 on download station, 0 unknown but the assets still show missing dependencies yellow puzzle symbol. Bit stuck as to what to do next. Any reasonable suggestions will be considered :)
Regards

What a big pile of steaming CARP !!!!
Starts off at 500+ down to just over 200 then boom up to 15,000 !!!!!!! :n:

Whoever designed this you take your head and you hang it in shame or better still keep your fingers away from a computer keyboard !!!!!!!!!!!

This is a worrying thread.
Is it just because of payware DLC and DRM?
Is there anyone who doesn't have any payware, but still gets this problem?

I've just bought TS12, and I'm really not going to be happy if this is a "feature".

Brian.

Not a problem Brian with no DLC / N3V Payware, I have two installs, one with DLC and one without, it's only the DLC one that gets screwed up.

Yea, this happens everytime the DLC Validation Server is taken offline. This isn't the first time its happened, won't be the last. Though it would be nice if Tony could ask for something like 12 hour notice from the Tech Department to make a public announcement so we don't get threads like these (Or at least as many of them).

From what I've noticed though, most outages of that server are unplanned ones that take place outside of N3V's working hours.

Its the thanks you get for investing money into the company by purchasing DLC .

This will equate to another 3 or 4 hours of useful life removed from my Hard drive . Its analogue so it should hopefully last longer than a Solid state . As I've stated before I'd be more worried if it was on a SDD as all these verifications would be eating into the total amount of read writes that you can get with the average SDD before it dies !!

There's a problem how this is managed and not the issue of the DRM content its self. I've been thinking about how I would do it and hopefully can craft up a book we can present to N3V regarding the issue. I'll need input when I'm done. Give me a few hours of thinking on this to get my thoughts in place.

Well I think it's now time that N3v started dishing out free FCTs in compensation to those of us who bought the dlc & have not been able to use it, it's tantamount to theft.:n:

The problem stems from the use of Taddaemon , It started off as a simply program that stored the latest database in your install of Trainz , when the program crashed you could simply install the last good saved database and off you would go in a minute or 2 instead of waiting for it to do a rebuild . They then hijacked the program to become an integral part of Trainz and every version has gotten worse since . Then they bolted this DRM feature onto it and this is the fallout we have to deal with everytime there's a hiccup with the mothership !!

Time they stopped being cheapskates & used a server company with reliable machines.

I doubt they will be in any hurry to fix things, they're too damn busy trying to sell their latest catastrophy T:ANE.

The problem N3V have though is that they rent servers from a company in the US who haven't got the best of reliability. The cost of them changing may well be too high as well. Anyway, none of us know the details of whatever contract N3V may have with Softlayer.

Shane

That may not be the issue BLACKWATCH. As none of us know the contractual details between N3V and Softlayer, we can't exactly comment on what they can and cannot do on that front.

Shane

Bottom dollar they'll have some excuse, they always do.

Meanwhile, I (and many others) can't use what we paid for, that's the bottom line.

I'm aware of that, as I also have some DLC content. However, it may be something that's both out of our hands and out of N3V's hands as well, and unless you've seen their contractual agreements, it's not something that be commented on with any certainty.

Shane

Thanks Malc.
That's good to know.

I have a load of DLC Payware that came with the bundle, some of which I would like to use (like Murchison 2, and a few UK steamers and diesels), but there's no way I'm installing any of it.
I'll be building my route with just built-in content and any content I create.
Nothing from the DLS, and no payware installed at all.
Hopefully that will mean less problems.

Incidentally, someone recently mentioned that TADDaemon isn't part of T:ANE.
I know that CCP isn't going to be there, and that they've updated CM a bit, but I thought TADDaemon was still part of it.
Just wondering if that was a rumour (or possibly wishful thinking).

Brian.

Well I bought from N3v so my "contractual agreement" is with them, so it's up to them to sort something out with me, nothing to do with 'Softlayer'.

I agree, although I'm not sure what you're going to get out of it if the issue is out of their control. Don't forget they are not a large company.
