Odd Message Subjects - It would be nice if-----

It would be nice if messages had better subject listings. Things like help, Unhappy, TS12, I am Frustrated, etc. really say little about the content of the message. I rarely read messages that have subjects that do not seem to say anything because I would have no idea what is in the message itself. I am probably missing some very good pieces of information. Others may also miss things or the poster may not receive the best suggestions since a few people, who may have the answer, simply skipped the message.

Valid points ... except I thought, from your message subject header, that this thread was about the messages that appear in Trainz.:D

.... Which illustrates the problem

It's a good idea to use the "Mouse over cursor hover preview" to read a bit before opening a post.

I absolutely agree with the OP. Sometimes I change the Thread Titles to something more informative. I know that by doing so, the Trainzer seeking assistance has a much better chance to receive the information he/she needs. What 'phod said is also helpful. ('phod, is that a word or name or what?) :)

The one I'm still trying to figure out is all the questions posted in the Freeware Announcements forum - you gotta skip past 20 other forums to get there, what possesses so many people to post questions in that particular forum?

Hello Euphod.

I think I may have made a Post that offended you. I apologize for that as that was not my intention.

Whoops.

Euphod, please accept my apologies also if you feel my response was inappropriate. It was not intended.:o

Thanks for the explanation of the origin of your Forum name. I often wondered how you chose it.

Floating the mouse over the title is a great trick for getting a better idea of the content of the posting. It took me a while before I got into using it, and I still often forget that this facility exists. Thanks for the reminder.

It works equally well for the eye catching ones, some of which don’t always meet expectation. It does highlight the importance of a good headline if you want to get the attention of the audience!

Thanks Guys, but it never crossed my mind to be offended. Should it have? I was only trying to restate my answer to a common question. In fact when I chose my user name I made the decision based on the erroneous fact that an Ephod was a DEVICE used to speak to God, (which I likened to the PC, however we all know the PC is anything but...). Further research revealed the Ephod to be otherwise, but still a part of the process.

I'm not upset, I have a good sense of humor, and so does God; after all He invented marriage... the cruelest joke of all!:D

This thread, to me, represents the beauty of these forums.

We started with a post about misleading subject headings in posts (a valid point I thought) and ended up with a discussion involving two of what many consider to be "taboos" in internet game discussion forums - religion and marriage!

I can understand Dick's point and frustration. Working in tech support and receiving oddly titled emails become a fact of life there.

In the past, when I used to repair equipment, I used to get boards in with "Don't Work", or "Broken" on the tags. Well, that would say a lot about what the real problem was. A tag with "Fails self test", or "Won't boot" are a little bit more to go with.

I too take a hover over the post to see if it's a quick response or one that will involve a bit more thinking. It depends upon how tired I am.

My all time favorite was a guy on the STEAM Railworks forum, with a thread titled "ARSE Faces!!!!!! :hehe: Very attention getting, and told you for sure that he was upset about something. Turned out to be that Railworks didn't include some obscure British steam locos that were his personal favorites by default. :'(

No Euphod, nothing out of sorts was intended. It's just that at times, I can get a little carried away. :)
