Demurrage, not ullage.

Consignees used to get *really* upset with me when I was an Acting Section Officer, Inwards Goods Auckland, filling in demurrage forms...

Hi Bill69 and b9k9kiwi. Thanks for your response, I suspected it might be manual labour or some form of Kiwi ingenuity. There has been a lot of manual labour down here in Christchurch recently - shovelling silt.
Cheers, Fender :)

Today marked a new era in Wellington's rail history, with the first Matangi trainset running to Taita and back. Seen here about to depart at 0725hrs

I took a similar shot a while ago of Ganz and EE sets passing here, this is a copy of that shot

Later, 4 cars formed the 1005hrs to Upper Hutt. Seen crossing the Silverstream bridge

Road spline

Hi Ryan. I have two questions for you. What is the name of your tarsealed Road
spline that you have running past the melling station. I like the edging of it.The other question is will we ever see the Hutt valley extension for the Johnsonville line? Love the shots you have running.

Hi Laird.

Thanks, glad you like the shots. The road is called Road 2L Highway, built-in from 06 & above (and possibly 04).

Last night, an EE unit departs the Capital for another trip up the hill, with 'the enemy' watching on, waiting its turn to leave.
ryanmcc201106300000.jpg

Earlier, the 11.00 from Upper Hutt departs Trentham
ryanmcc201106300003.jpg

The same train is seen passing a Ganz heading the other way around Epuni

Finally, a couple of DX's bring this morning's train 237 into Wellington

Trentham trains

Thanks Ryan. I spent my younger days(1940s) in Trentham being terrified of the "Huge" Ks & Js steaming past. In those days the line went over the Rimutukas via the looong pull up with the Fell engines. I remember you could walk up along side the carrages and keep up. The sparks from the steam engines used to set the dry, summer grass, along the lines opposite our place, on fire. One summer this never happen so I thought I would help by getting rid of this "unsightly" grass. The Railcar was stopped while the fire Dept dealt with the damage.I was 7. I let on to Dad & Mum about 30 years later when we could laugh about it. I have a special place in my mind for the Huttvalley line catching the train to Petone then bus around to Days Bay for picnics and trips into Wellington on a friday night to pickup more Railway track for my model, wind up train set.
Cheers John

Hey NZ Pics Trainz world,

First time posting here, so here goes ...
Content in this forum is truely amazing, so I decided to give it all a go. Here is the start of my Waikanae - Wellington route, with a 4 car Matangi unit leaving Waikanae. See these units daily as I live up on the hill looking over Linden so get a pretty good view of train action passing Linden station.

mrrangi201107030005.jpg
Later that day the same ganz what's in the Pram hold as two DL's pass with 221 fright.:D

Great memories Laird. Nice shots lately guys. No chance of 221 running late that day with the power to weight ratio through the roof!

After resignalling some keys junctions around the network today with the Smart Signals on Jointed Rail (I now have accurate indications for all moves through Distant Junction, and accurate warnings on the approach signals at Kaiwharra), a Ganz makes a late evening run from Plimmerton to town in shocking weather. I feel sorry for the trackworkers further north of here tonight.

Seen at Mana.
ryanmcc201107100004.jpg

Kenepuru, the next station in line for closure, all to get the journey from WKN under this 'magical' 60 minute barrier. Apparently, trips longer than that over there need trains with toilets. We've survived for decades in Brisbane without toilets on trips much longer than that...
ryanmcc201107100005.jpg

Finally, at Takapu Road, with some kids STILL playing in Willowbank Park (10.00pm).
