NTSEFAN Q&A response thread

NTSEFAN

trainz rookie cartoonist
i don't know if this fits anywhere, but i am willing to do one as so.

HELLO EVERYONE!

It's me again, Nick AKA Nick the steam engine fan or NTSEFAN for short.

I am starting a Q&A response thread.

It's simple really:

If you any questions about the series Nick the Steam engine(which has yet to come to fruition), the characters, the inspiration, my life or anything in particular, just type in your question and I will post up a response postage answering your questions whenever I get the chance.

Okay, that's about it, so ask away.

BTW, please no noobish questions.

Will there only be a Few main characters and most engines seen on cam extras?

Will the locomotives be crewed and will some crews be named and have a
staring roll and non-main characters crews be as important?

Will the plots be based on real events?

Will you do something silly like make them do human things, like make them have kids,be in court, etc?

Will the railroad simulate real railroads and follow all FRA regulations, aka no Thomas style railway running?

Are the characters well developed?

Are you willing to replicate real-style accidents were locomotives get actually broken on the outside and sometimes don't get repairs for a while ,and also sometimes get killed?

Are you willing to drop multi-colored engines for a standardized RR livery with a few out of livery locos only?

Are you willing to simulate interchange with other lines?

Will you have a multi-person voice cast?

And also no different-power format arguments what so ever.

I could go on and on...

In another thread, you listed about 30+ characters for NTSE. It'll be interesting seeing you fit all those characters into the series. ;)
Good luck!

NTSE Q&A Response 1

Oh, hello. heard you come in and called ARNOLD, to come and exterminate you greetings and welcome to my Q&A response thread.

Q:
what's taking you so long to do NTSE anyway?

A: I'VE BEEN BUSY OKAY?! CUT ME SOME SLACK!

YOU: I'm sorry.

ME: Well you should be sorry. you horrible horrible person. (gives the middle finger)

Q:
why are you holding a Easy Smoke in your hand to give the illusion it is a real cigarette?

A: Cause I don't smoke. YOU GOT A PROBLEM WITH THAT?! HUH? HUH?

tycoonk4 asks:

Q:
Will there only be a Few main characters and most engines seen on cam extras?

A: They are about 8 steam engines that are the main characters that make the "steam team" in the show. The first 8 engines as listed in my NTSE thread are the main characters and the other engines listed are either major, supporting or minor characters. There will be guest stars by real engines in the show and there may be some extras to give the show variation.

Q:
Will the locomotives be crewed and will some crews be named and have a
staring roll and non-main characters crews be as important?

A: Although the engines can move independitly without drivers, yes, the engines will be crewed and each engine will have a named crew in the show both staring roll and non main. If a huge almanac of the series were to be published, it would cover all of the characters background and everything, even all of the crews will be named.

Q:
Will the plots be based on real events?

A: Yes! Like the railway series, I want the plots & gags to be based upon real events that happened on the american railroads, mostly train accidents like the Norwalk bridge disaster of 1853, the angola horror, the Ashtabula train disaster, the Walter L Main circus train wreck of 1893, the great boiler explosion of 1912, or likely the great train wreck of 1918. But the plots them selves will be based upon such events.

Q:
Will you do something silly like make them do human things, like make them have kids,be in court, etc?

A: Well the kind of ri-don-culous things I would make the trains do is beat one of another up once a while, make them eat human food, probably go to court, watch TV, play games, beat up or kill people that they hate, mostly cartoons, get into cloudfights and such, scream wildly when scared, play tricks, learn dark secrets of one of another, defy the laws of nature or physics, vomit either boiler sludge, grease, oil, lubricant, gunk or that white stuff that appears on batteries when they leak if something hasn't been used in a long time, and a few other nostalgic and wild & cartoony stuff.

Q:
Will the railroad simulate real railroads and follow all FRA regulations, aka no Thomas style railway running?

A: Well it would happen to be a mixture of both, since the Silverlake & Berrybush Railroad(the railway where the series takes place) rarely has loose regulations on the railway. so obviously, the railway runs how the controller sees it.

Q:
Are the characters well developed?

A: Yes, they are. They are modelled after real like locomotives around the world, but the move in a fashion like that of casey junior from Dumbo, the engines from the little engine that could, play safe & a lot of other movies that featured anthropomorphic trains and such, with the steam cylinders for arms on the steam engines, and bending bodies, for steam, diesel & electric.
all locos will have faces placed on the front of the bodies like on the smokebox front of the steam engine, the nose of the diesel or the front of the electric loco.

Q:
Are you willing to replicate real-style accidents were locomotives get actually broken on the outside and sometimes don't get repairs for a while ,and also sometimes get killed?

A: Like before, yes, I will, engines that get wrecked in a accident will be broken on the outside, engines will be sent for repairs but parts may take time to forge to replace broken ones if needed as so. As for locos getting killed well in the show, it may be a rarety but the only times a engine will get killed is either a boiler explosion, blowing up or when they are scrapped, but that is a rarety.

Q:
Are you willing to drop multi-colored engines for a standardized RR livery with a few out of livery locos only?

A: Well, I want the locos to be different because the characters you will see in the show are former railway loco and will come from different railroads all around the world mostly either North America, Europe or Austrailia. The locos will retain their original color appearence of their original railroad class rather then being painted all the same and I want to stay to their true original looks,
so basically, I would not choose a standard RR livery for my locos.

Q:
Are you willing to simulate interchange with other lines?

A: likely. the only way trains can leave Berrybush island is either by ship or by going over a very LONG bridge that connects the islands rails to Americas own rails and some.

Q:
Will you have a multi-person voice cast?

A: DUH! who wouldn't?

Q:
And also no different-power format arguments what so ever.

A: probably.

In another thread, you listed about 30+ characters for NTSE. It'll be interesting seeing you fit all those characters into the series. ;)
Good luck!

A: Thanks a lot to you.

This is my Q&A response thread. If you have any more questions , just ask away.

Okay, I can't stand on the sidelines anymore.

NTSE, I'mma tell it to you straight. You have absolutely no idea what you are getting yourself into. Making a railroad series, or any video series, is sometimes just as hard as building a locomotive in gmax. I've tried making my own trainz video series like yours before (anyone remember "Adventures of Scott & Friends?"). It had minimal characters, and original plot, and a decent backstory. However, only one episode ever saw the light of day. Doing something on that level requires almost the attention of a part-time job. Doing something like that AND producing it on a regular basis - might as well make it your job. The reason "The Mohawk That Wouldn't Quit" was so successful was because I eliminated the need for extra voices and a cast.

To put it frankly, your series has just too much stuffed into it. Yes, you've got a general plot, but it feels extremely cliché. Your character list is also a bit bloated. Good luck finding voices for all of them. Remember, you're not a Hollywood director, you're a kid with a computer and a train sim. Hosting auditions helps, but you have to generate enough interest in the series to get a decent number of people to audition. And even then, you still might not end up with the cast you need.

I know it sounds like I'm shooting down your whole plan, but I just don't want you to start something you can't keep up with. Take it from someone who knows.

@ NTSEFAN - I am not ganging up on you or being mean, I am however just pointing out major flaws with your idea.
Truemac has a very valid point. The crew who produce Thomas the Tank Engine (or any similar/stop motion animation series) would do it as a full time job, not as a hobby.

From what I understand, you would be making it for fun/a hobby. It would probably take a couple of months to produce a 30 minute show.

Where are you going to get people to do voices for your show? I don't think there are many people with lots of spare time who are willing to do it.

NTSEFAN Q&A response 2

Oh, hello. heard you come in and called ARNOLD, to come and exterminate- VWEEP! CRASH!

Although I'm not going to be doing that through out the whole thread, but, yes. Now is the time. Time for me to answer your stupid questions. Before I go on into this, I like to say thank you all so much for the questions you sent me in those two weeks, I know I've been busy with high school stuff & outside life and all, but enough said, here we go!

K4driver asks:
Q: why are you doing this?

A: I've been a fan of Trainz ever since I got got my copy of it for the first time when I was young. For more info on the background story, go here:http://forums.auran.com/trainz/showthread.php?t=13158&page=5

Q: What makes you think you will be able to do this?

A: Well, I want to entertain people around the world & let them see that trains are more then just metal moing machines on rails and also educate then about trains and such.

Q: Do you think anyone will watch these?

A: Well, depending on how the raitings goes in the future, maybe

tycoonk4 asks:
Edit:never mind.

A: Okay then.?:o

illinoiscentral asks:
Q: Why can't we post "noobish" questions on a "noobish" thread posted by a "noob"?!

A: Well, let me tell why you can not post noobish questions.

If anyone where to post questions that annoy me, that drives me to the limit.

for example:

Q: Will you still be doing Nick the Steam Engine?

A: No! No I will not! But why stop there? I could stop doing specials, shorts, bits, sketches, or just stop doing NTSE all together? Now I know what you're thinking.... "WHAT??!! Nick the Steam Engine is cancelled!!!???" (runs away and cries) "GOODBYE CRUEL WORLD!!" (BOOM!)

Well, this is my way of using sarcasum to point out how unbelieveably stupid your question was, so please, within retro conclusion, SHUT UP! with sukiyaki. HA HA! But no seriously, I SAID NO NOOBISH QUESTIONS!

There's your reason. oh yeah & also, I'M NOT A NOOB! I'm am a rookie.

Q: When did this forum become overrun by garbage?

A: I don't know. you ask me.:hehe:

Q: How many more of us brave souls dare to take a stand against this senseless posting only to have nothing done about it by either member nor moderator?

A: I'm just a poor soul who needs help up on to his feet, that's all.

Q: When will "talk the talk and walk the walk" when it comes to this creation of yours? How many more times must we read that it "hasn't taken fruitation"?

A: Because, I need a new computer first befro I can progess the series to come to fruitation.

Q: What's with the immature posting on post #4? Of course you don't smoke, I doubt you're much over the age of 12.

A: Cause I'm 18, okay?! just cut me some slack. If you can't handled the matureness by now, you never will.

Q: Can you make these threads after progress has actually been made, you know, when you're not "busy"?

A: I'll see what can be done.

Q: Will you actually answer these questions?

A: DUH! who wouldn't.

Just my Thoughts,

I understand.

K4driver also asks:
Q will you realize no one will more than likely watch these?

A: I may unless raitings go down.

Q: Do you realize that you are copying Thomas right down to the T

A: OH NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO! you must be confused.

My series may be like TTTE, but however, my show is in NO way, no how, no shirts, no shoes, no legs, no serivce is my show directally related to thomas & friends, it is a all new approach to trains & such. the only , THE ONLY thing that may be copied from T&F is the living appearences of the trains & a FEW stories, thats just it. NO RIP OFFS!

I hope this clears things up.

Q: How long will it take you to answer these?

A: Well, depends on how many there are.

Q:How Long Until you make even an attempt to start this?

A: Probaly until I start college start.

Q: What is up with post 4?

A: I don't know what I was on when doing this so phisically, I was obviously possesed by my alter ego who represents my bad side.

Q:Do I need to go on?

A: you don't have to if you want.

tycoonk4 also asks:
I just want this to blow up in the hanger.

A: then load up the dynamite if you will.:hehe:

Because it sounds silly.

And he is throwing my suggestions out the window.

A: Now why would I do THAT?

JRT asks:
Q: Would you like your "route" for the videos done by me? I will do it for $20.00 USD + Paypal fees....

Cheers,
JRT

A: Well.... I'll see about it. for a price mind you.

Okay, I can't stand on the sidelines anymore.

A: Aaron, I see where you are going with this.

When I did see your first episode of Scott & Friends(yes, I remembered) I will have to admit it was pretty good, despite the long time it took to make this.

What I'm doing here is really simple.

for the next few years until I graduate & get a house of my own, I will just be doing my series, comic book styled and all like garfield & marmaduke for example here on this forum. And then when I signed a contract for a TV station to have my series made, I'll do what ever it take to make my dream a reality.

As for characters, yes it is going to be a HUGE cast, almost just as huge as the original transformers voice cast. Obviously, can you imagine what it be like if James was voiced by Seth Mcfarland, Peter voiced by Rob Paulsen, Herbert voiced by Mike Henry, Big rob voiced by Kevin Micheal Richardson,
Daylight voiced by Tom kenney, Bob voiced by Bob Shriver and such? That WOULD be HUGE!

I will try to understand what you are trying to tell me.

tycoonk4 also asks:
Now that was good.

A: Yes I know. Aaron's a cool guy when you know him.

Ronayne asks:
@ NTSEFAN - I am not ganging up on you or being mean, I am however just pointing out major flaws with your idea.

A: I understand that TRUEMAC is making a point. I ain't doing the series just for the fun of the hobby or just for the job, I'm doing this for the passion of entertainment and comedy and to keep people laughing about it.

As for voices, I'll be voicing most of them & I'll see if I can post up auditions.

nuni7270 asks:
:hehe:ten characters

A: Hilarious.

This is my Q&A response thread.

A: Well, I want to entertain people around the world & let them see that trains are more then just metal moing machines on rails and also educate then about trains and such.

Letting impressionable little kids see trains that have faces and talk isn't educating them. If you put too much factual information in it, the children that watch it will become bored with it and will probably become play school junkies.

Plus, his question was
Q: What makes you think you will be able to do this?

He asked what makes you think you can do this, not why you want to do it.

By the way, what is up with these?

Oh, hello. heard you come in and called ARNOLD, to come and exterminate- VWEEP! CRASH!

Seriously, what the heck? No one would commit suicide (or is that homicide you are referring to?) because you stopped making NTSE. If someone did commit suicide, it would be because of reasons of more importance (family issues, debt, underachievement, death of loved one etc.) than a "tv" series that has not even been produced.

A: Cause I'm 18, okay?! just cut me some slack. If you can't handled the matureness by now, you never will.

Your posts in this thread demonstrate that your mental maturity is < / equal to that of my four year old cousin. However, I doubt you are physically any older than 12 (that is, judging by your grammar and random comments).

Also, when are you going to churn out the first episode of Nick the Steam Engine? 2014? 2030?

Well, I don't see anything wrong with someone visualizing something and going ahead and acting on it....if it fails, at least you won't regret not trying. There are a few things that make me wonder. First, I don't really think you are 18 years old.....if you are, then I'd wonder about the college part....second, if you really are going to college, then you really don't know what busy is. If you don't have time now, you will have less time when you go to college.....and less money for the needed computer. Third..I think the project will yield to other priorities and fade away like this thread will.....after all, there are only so many questions that can be asked about a project yet to be started. Of course, you can keep it going a little longer by continuing to answer some questions with another question....or maybe ARNOLD will help you sweep it all under the rug for now....
