NS Pittsburgh Sub (Large Pics)

Thanks Gisa, MG (mid grade) is one of my favourite place to sit and do some Trainzspotting. Thinking when this is done it would make a great multiplayer route :)

Think I'd be have to be at this route for an eternity before I get to Ohio :hehe: Pittsburgh is just to big an obstacle at the moment. I got bored so I've come up with a rough map showing most of the locations of interest along my route. :)

EDIT: dammit, just realised i have the West and East slopes mixed up... and the idiot of the day award goes to yours truly.

The building you asked about, I am unsure what they use it for now, but it is basicly a two story corragated shed, with a one story side shed. We were kicked out there by a security gaurd years ago ... and MG is now off limits as the Altoona Watershed owns the property of all the lower and higher mountains, and NS also deems MG Tower Absolutely No Trespassing ! Others argue that the property was sold as State Game Land, but this is totally false.

The gradient there is @ 1.75%, with the highest gradient being 2.36% through the Portage bore on the "Slide".

My pleasure. Keep up the awesome pics. Definitely looking forward to more! I think it would be a great multiplayer map too.

Thanks guys, ur comments are what keep me going! Heres a few more, been working on Altoona most of today getting all the yardwork in, i know Cascade will tell me how they've got rid of most of it, but boy, its still a big job...

Altoona Car repair shops- few meters away from here http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=364774&nseq=55 should probably find a more proto shed...

Summerhill, minus the extended visibility gantry, hopefully this will come around soon..

Heck of a lot more work to do... kinda like the composition of this shot thou

...Yeah, i saw that, also Alto tower is apparently scheduled or demolition by the end of the year.. bummer....

...As this post is being written, NS are busy taking down the remaining signal bridges from the PPR era and replacing them with new safetran gantries as well as completely remodelling the track layout around Altoona and slope, ruining my hopes for doing a modern, up-to-date route! :hehe:...

They are laying new track faster than you can keep up with.
Aparently Alto Interlocking will be totally revamped, or removed (Alto Tower appears doomed), and Slope will become the new interlocking.

This is why I model pre-1854-thru-1970, and throw in all the old tracks & interlockings

Deja vu?:hehe: :hehe: Thanks for the comments guys :)

Thanks everyone
Looking forward to more shots!

Better not disappoint then :) Took a loaded steel slab train up and over the hill today. 5k tons and with 3 locos on the head end, nearly stalled up the east slope and almost ran away on the west.. The pictures are in reverse order
