Northern Arizona Route

Thanks, the distant horizon on this shot is very true to the look of the area. I’ll be reworking some parts of my route to get this vast flat look with distant mesas. As far as these dry washes, I can almost do them in my sleep now and I have many more to do. Sometimes the dry washes and bridges are the only thing interesting to work with in this wide-open landscape. I still enjoy working on it. At some point soon the landscape will gradually change to thicker vegetation and eventually lots of pines.

Yes I do copy/paste textures with one of several mixes I have. Then I usually copy/paste some of the transition between distant and near by terrain. After that I detail and highlight with individual textures.

Gordan: I'm sorry to bother you again..But would you consider working up How you do your Pics??For Scenery Lets Get Real Thread..

These shots are from an area west of Canyon Diablo. The line is passing through the southwest corner of the Navajo reservation. The first shot is of a shallow canyon that eventually joins with Canyon Diablo. There’s not much around this area, just a few dirt roads here and there.

The attention to detail on this route is amazing. It's like a landscape painting brought to a digitized life.

Well done Gordon

Morning,

see Coyote Gordon:hehe: getting really busy! Well done my friend. i kind of envy your choice of starting with the desert as it is a lot easier than my rocky mountains but as we both know very well the right tools in the right hands make's it work!!
Ning and i keep some trainz running and hit the F!2 button each time it looks nice. the F12 button is almost worn out:cool:

Have a great weekend.

Roy n Ning;)

There's a handful of routes that are a visual treat, and every time a screen of one is posted, it's like a present! This is one of those routes!

This is only one of very few routes that I am looking foward to running. The other routes being Donner Pass (Payware) Canadian Rockies, and the Pittburgh line.

Thanks for the comments. This is another shot along the southwest corner of the Navajo reservation heading toward Flagstaff.

Thanks Roy n Ning and thanks jango. In my opinion, the screenshots of the Canadian Rocky Mountain route and the TRAINZITALIA Donner Pass route are two of the most visually stunning routes I’ve seen! Although I have a good selection of quality textures and vegetation to work with I still have a lot of missing pieces. The further I get into this route the more I add to my wish list of specific types of content.

@Euphod, thanks Ed, I always appreciate your comments.

@Bobcass, thanks Bob.

Thanks for the comment kamran but the only magic trick I know is making my money disappear. I’m actually quite skilled at that trick.

I started this route out of several baseboards I did for a desert theme screenshot of the week contest last winter. This is the original mesa I created for that shot. Today I decided to start some fixing up of some of the work I did early on this route. I want to keep the earlier work consistent with the content and techniques I’m using now.

Yep - your early texturing sucked - needed fixing bad.....

Good Grief Gordon - don't you know that by the time you update the early stuff you have gotten even better again (is that possible?!) and then you gotta go back and go back and.....

And before anybody takes the first line out of context go read the rest of the thread: IMHO Gordon is (and always was!) the desert texture King Of Trainz. Period.....
