Northern Arizona Route

Thanks for the comments on that last shot. I’ve been extremely busy lately with work. Then I got sick (probably because I’m working too hard, or maybe because of all the commercials that tell me it’s cold and flu season). So rather than lay around watching daytime TV yesterday I got the new JR Dash 9s instead. Today I feel much better. Tomorrow back to the rat race. Here are a couple of recycled shots with the new BNSF Dash 9s.

@BobCass, thanks Bob. The trees I want and the trees I’ll put in are two different things. What I want are a variety of ponderosa pines and smaller desert pines like pinyon and juniper for the transition to the taller pines. I could list more but it just a matter of using what I can find to make it believable for the area.

@grogstop65, thanks for the comment.

Here’s another shot with the BNSF Dash 9s over Canyon Diablo.

I live in Phoenix currently and wow---this makes me want to take a trip out to the desert to spot some of this!
Thanks, if you can take the road trip up to Flagstaff and east of there, you won’t be disappointed. Maybe someday I’ll get back there again with camera in hand.

@BobCass, thanks, I did check out the UltaTreez
Conifer billboard trees. They go well with the trees I’ve already chosen for the taller pines.

Nice work Gordon, you make those coyote look far better than they deserve! I hope you're still working on the route when you feel the urge!

Thanks Ed, those coyotes fit in well with a lot of my shots. This time I put one of Deane’s small circular shadows underneath to give a little more realism. These shots were my final test shots for choosing the pines I’m going to use as my route approaches Flagstaff from the east. I’m working on (when I have time) track and terrain leading into the eastern edges of the Flagstaff area.

You are some kind of texture wizard. I really like what we've been seeing here.
Thanks motorbreath, I think a real wizard would be able to create the textures he wants out of thin air. The more I work on this route the more I want some custom high-res textures to create some effects I can’t do yet. Unfortunately I live about 1,500 miles away from the area I’m doing. The Painted Desert east of Holbrook would be one of the areas I’d really like to have some custom textures.

Excellent work, really outstanding.
:)
Thanks Isegrinns.

You definitely qualify at the very least as a landscape fine artist. Magnificent!
I appreciate the comment.

It's amazing what you can build and find for Trainz. That screenshot with the coyote and the rocks are a nice piece of art. One of my favorite threads on the forum to visit.

Sorry for bumping in; I wasn't following this topic, so I have to ask: is the route available or it is still a WIP ? Great job done, congratulations to the creator !

This is Winona, AZ, (West Darling on the railroad) just east of Flagstaff. The shot is a work in progress. I still have a lot terrain features to create. I’ve completed the track work well into east Flagstaff. The tracks go though a series curves beyond the left horizon of this view. The ponderosa pines start at that point. I’ll be repositioning and scaling the San Francisco Peaks, foothills and Sunset Crater so they don’t get lost the draw distance. I should be getting some interesting screenshots as I make progress towards Flagstaff.
