Northern Arizona Route

Thanks Ed, I won’t let this project become vapor ware. I will finish this someday. There are times when I just don’t have the free time or energy to work on the route. When I take a break from time to time I’m usually more inspired when I return to working on it.

This weekend I went back and finally finished West Winslow. From that bridge which is a popular rail fan location, you’d be able to see the San Francisco Peaks in Flagstaff. The distance is over 50 miles. That’s not something I’ll be able to show. This far west end of Winslow is pretty sparse as far as vegetation. There is a lot of exposed red sand and rock.

Thank you Gordon, I'm relieved to read that! It's just that your landscaping is so nicely done, even in the less dramatic areas, that I would feel a lesser man if I didn't get to drive the route end to end someday! Take your time, of course, but do revisit it from time to time. If there's anything specific that you need, just ask!

That cab shot over the gorge is outstanding as is the rest of your work. I was just thinking how cool it would be to have that shot from a Sunset Limited Deluxe bedroom sleeper wagen.

Cheers

@Euphod, Thanks Ed, I do have a request. Many of the small Santa Fe bridges have the Santa Fe logo on the side. It would be cool to have some signs as placards I could place on a few bridge sides. I see this as weathered white over weathered dark grayish black. It might be an Idea for other railroads as well.

@AJ_Fox, Thanks, that’s a great idea. I’m not sure what the state of detailed Amtrak Superliner interiors is in Trainz other than what HP has as payware. I’ll probably do some shots with the Amtrak Southwest Chief someday.

@metarailboy1, that’s what we do. There’s a bridge over a BNSF mainline that I cross frequently. When I see a train as I’m crossing the bridge I have to fight the temptation to slam on the brakes and run over to the railing to watch the train. It’s just about then I look in the rear view mirror and realize that would probably cause a 4-car pile up.

@Bob Cass, nice canyon Bob. You should download the new version (Diablo Bridge 3) that Ben Dorsey re-textured for me.

Thanks heyrey.

I can do something like that, but I need some bridge kuids for measurements. You can post them here when you like. BTW; I like your sig picture, but the maximum size is supposed to be 800 x 100.

Ed, thanks I just re-sized the signature. I thought it was too big even not knowing that. I’ll get back later with the bridge info, I’m actually weathering real model train cars today.

@MTW, thanks, I might re-work my coal plant on this route to do some night shots in that lighting.

Lately I’ve been kind of kit bashing the small ATSF bridges that cross washes and roads. I’ve been using the bridge Kit Side Girder 2.5m grey kuid:283805:37990. An example would be on page 19 of this thread. If you feel like doing this that would be great. I’d be happy with just the Santa Fe logo rather than the name and logos.
This is a link to some good shots of various ATSF bridges.

Edit: I may be switching out a lot of my plate girder bridges when wawasoo’s double track plate girder gets to the DLS. I just looked at his single track and it looks really good.

Gordon, your post #440 cab mode pict is perfect and makes me wonder how come you have full distance where normally cab mode view ALWAYS cuts of the distant view. Am I missing some new development in cab mode view settings or is this a little rabbit out of the head pict or any other secret. I never anymore use cab view as the view is unreal and horrible because of the limited short distance view anytime anywhere.
Hope you ahve a pleasant surprise for me here.

Regards and keep up the excellent work.

Thanks Roy, as far as the cab shots I don’t really have an answer for you. The only reason I posted those shots was because from certain angles, using the arrow keys, the side window appears open. From those openings everything is bright and clear just like any trackside view. It only happens from the cab of the JR SD70mac.

Morning Gordon, oops afternoon/evening? haha

surprise you not know but absolutely nothing wrong though but I hope than someone tweaked the cab view distance/angle etc to what you have there maybe someone read this and is willing to help me out answer so i know than yes we get rite of the ugly unreal stupid whatever (have to get it of my chest panting lol) cab view they had for years and never ever even intended to change like many other stuff never look back always go forward faster than there own shadows cast.
hmm feel better again:hehe:

have a nice day

Roy;)
