Northern Arizona Route

I like the idea of the signs/painted names as trackside assets so there is no futzing around trying to position them "just right"- they'll click to the right position automatically, you just have to drag them wherever (like the center of the bridge or directly over the roadway)

Well, good luck with that. I'll be interested to see what you release.

Something like this, maybe?

This one's a bit "hard"- I just threw this together to see what could be done. I need to adjust the positioning down a little bit, and I'll weather it a bit before release. It is under the "trackside" tab, snaps to the track automatically, and is set up for the YR girder bridge right now. It may work with others "as is", may need to be tweaked for others.....

Ed- who do I need to email for release rights when I'm done? I took it from the "neon" element that you used in the hanging mamba.

I'm sorry Scott, but that particular model cannot be released. It was made for me by a modeler many years ago with the express understanding that it would be for my use only, that is why I didn't include free reskinning rights when I released anything based on it. You are, of course free to make your own, or ask a current modeler to make one for you.

Come on over on my thread the Yupper.

Tell me what this thing looks like, and I'll make a trackside asset that snaps exactly to the bridge.im file that is invisible from the rear and front for you to work on, and allow you to do both sides of the bridge at once..ie double sided bridge signage on my bridge assets that you can move and position along any bridge I build. FWIW, tonight I uploaded the new Plate Girder .im files with the resized plates on the 1 & 2 Track Bridges...

Dammit Ed, now look what you made me do:

Bridge Paint - ATSF, uploaded to the DLS and waiting for approval.

YOU MADE ME LEARN HOW TO MAKE MY OWN MESH!!!!!!
My first gMax creation!! OK, so it was kind of dirty.... I built a plane, textured it, and it didn't fit where it was supposed to, so with the orientation tags and position tags, it does now. This one is set up to work with wawasoo's YR plate girder bridge. Look for it under trackside items, and it will snap to where it belongs on the side of the bridge. It is one sided, so you need to put a second one and rotate it to put one on the other side. With a little bit of kludging, it can be set up to work on any bridge.

wawasoo....thanks for the offer there- It would have saved me about 2 and a half hours of work (I know.... that is a lot of work for such a simple asset), but I feel pretty damned accomplished right now.

Super job dude...if you need some help double siding it, I can do it for you, and you and I would share the mesh, just you and me...on all my bridges.

As far as taking a long time I know the feeling, it's easier if you have the mesh you are trying to position on....I could move you right along because I have the bridge.im's. Let me know if you want to work together.

You sir posses a dangerous talent now.... the ability to learn and apply....... :)

I was really impressed, it's like having a mini-me.

That's what made America great. I did upload new plate sizes tonight, which would screw all his work up, and that ain't right. So, he's advised to clone the one he's worked with, call them his own with my blessing and put them back up on the download station under his name. But something tells me, He & I will have bridges with road names, graffiti..if that's how you spell it to slap on all my bridges as a trackside asset. It will just make things more cool. I can build bridges, and he can to the art on them. That will change Trainz for the better.

The new resized plate girder bridges are now on the download station.

Remember these new bridges have different sized plates. So if you have things set up now with the old bridges, clone them if you want to go back as this version will overwrite the old image files.

Now...thread owner. After seeing the new bridges. Do you still want the center brace taken out? Tell me what you want and I will release one specifically to your demands based on the current plate size so you can get back to work. Give me a week, but you can trestle, support it up..the bridge structure from now on will not change as far as outside dimensions.

I like the shorter height. Yes I would like the center brace removed or made much shorter in height. The less corroded texture you posted (#478 )referring to ATSF bridges was my favorite.
Thanks, Gordon

That ground texture is art - out-and-out art. Love it....
Thanks Andy

What groundtextures are you using, anyways? Are they built-in, or what?

^Jankvis payware.

I do use a lot of built-in textures. In that shot it’s mostly built-in textures with a few that I got on the DSL. That shot only has about 4 or 5 very small areas where I highlighted with a JVC texture. (yellowy colored rock)

Excellent work, and I'm glad to hear the payware textures are being used sparingly; that way when the route eventually gets released, I won't be missing much!;)

Thanks Ed, the flying hawk and coyotes worked well in that shot. I finally got around to doing a shot with a double stack train. The Jointed Rail wellcars and containers are amazing! As far as what I was saying about textures, on that last shot there were very few JVC textures. Overall I do use mostly built-in but there are plenty of detail areas on this route (hillsides, cliffs, etc.) where I use some JVC textures. I do use a number of other high- res textures too for detailing terrain. Now, vegetation, that will be a bigger issue in regards to payware. For now my only concern is the building of the route.
