Northern Arizona Route

Well darn Gordon, this is looking so flipping awesome, if youd like me to try I can see what I can do on the flagstaff depot, no promise I can finish it but I can still try my best, the issue is it will be fairly high Polly as the only thing for 3d modeling I know how to use is sketchup, hope your ok with that, but I could use some help fining some photos of the back of the depot so if I finish the rest I can do that part.

Excellent shots Gordon! I will see what I can do in the next couple of weeks regarding Flagstaff. If I cannot do it myself, I'll contact some friends who live up there. I'll keep you posted!

Thanks for the offer MTW but Dinorius_Redundicus has generously agreed to make the Flagstaff Amtrak station for this route. The issue is getting good photos of each side of the station at perpendicular angles.

Thanks acelejaide, that would be awesome! I have a sample diagram from Deane on the various angles needed for a typical building. I can PM the diagram to you.

A,

Thanks for volunteering for the photo-shoot! As Gordon said, I offered some time ago to make him a building for Flagstaff and he chose the main station, which is a good choice. Could you or whoever is going out there to take the photos, contact me before they go (e-mail is good, the address is in all my content configs). I'd like to just talk about how best to get photos that will be easily usable on the model. Hopefully it will make the 'construction' easier and the final result better looking for Gordon.

Naturally the photographer will get full credit in the Description section for the photos.

You're work is AWEsome. Very inspiring. Wishing you a happy new year.
Thanks rgcx, Happy new year to you and everyone on the Trainz Forum.
I use a lot of your rolling stock reskins. Your work is excellent!

This shot is just a little departure from my Arizona route I did yesterday. I’m actually getting a lot of work done on the Flagstaff area lately. I did this farm shot just to try out some of Pofig’s amazing trees.

I haven't looked at this thread in a while, but I'm glad I have now. Positively superb work, absolutely top-notch. Keep up the wonderful work! :Y:

Regards,

Zachary.

Thanks flyingsolo.

@ulmer94, I just spend as much time as it takes, sometimes removing the texture and making adjustments grid by grid. I’d rather do that than work in wireframe mode, which drives my eyes nuts. I try to look at everything from all angles close up and far distance.

I came up with a solution for depicting the San Francisco Peaks in Flagstaff. The San Francisco Peaks are a dormant volcano. All the surrounding smaller mountains, craters and buttes are part of the same volcanic field. The problem is that the SF peaks can be seen in Northern Arizona for up to eighty mile. I came up with a solution in Trainz to avoid the mountain fading away in the distance. I have formed the Peaks at 3 prominent locations where you would see them in the distance. It seems to work because each version is hidden from the others. I have a shot here with patchy snow in the high elevation as seen from western Flagstaff.

That's proper ingenuity right there! A great way to solve a difficult problem... nice job!

Really, can't wait for this to come out. BNSF and UP, and the whole west to midwest U.S. vibe really is what I've been waiting for, and I will continue to wait patiently.

(Just realized the contradiction there. Oops!)

@traincrazy0918, thanks

@acelejaide, those are Yarnish highway signs by streadway. They’re on the DLS. Make sure to get the various supports too.
Gordon

Speaking of signs, I'm glad to see those willem2 speed limit signs I converted to scenery objects are going to good use! I sure he will be, too. Some very believable scenes, Gordon, looking forward to the eventual release!
