Northeast Corridor Newport News, VA to Boston-South Station, MA (1024x 768 pixels)

More shots...

Well I haven't made any progress persay, actually Ive been just goofing off, but as promised I do have some shots.

I decided to replicate Union Station in the pre-Amtrak diesil era. I was also too lazy to go into driver so exscue menu bars, spline points, etc. Enjoy!

In these couple of shots I was just pertending that VRE borrowed from San Diego rather than Seattle. So here we have a leased Coaster set in the L'Enfant area:

Now lets hp back about 45 years... We are standing on the PRR mail house and offices walkway. Just then a PRR switcher goes towards the lower level with a cut of coaches:

We then make our way over into the station area to catch a PRR long distance train idling on one of the tracks.

Here's another shot of the same train from the adjacent platform:

Now on the lower level we view the Southern Crescent's diesil power which is awaiting the arrival of its consist from New Yrok City:

And the last shot for now is another picture of the awaiting power:

Thats all for now please enjoy and comments are always welcome!

That Washington Union Station Looks so good!!!! You did an very accurate job recreating it.
You just need to get some round concrete supports.

Yeah I know, I couldn't really find anything good so I just didn't put em up yet. If anyone wants to take the liberty in finding those they at least need to be 12 trainz units tall because I really dont feel like stacking them.

Thanks

Awesome, today I was kinda bored so me and my dad kinda trespassed around Ivy City and Brentwood, however I didnt go in the shops because I didnt want to get in trouble. When are you going, and could u please post pics afterwards?

Thanks and have fun!

Mike will do it when he gets the chance but since Penn Station is so intricate and unoque it will most likely be a kitbashed project and as he has stated will not be a single object.

Hey guys I have a question...

Can anyone tell me the name of and where to find some CSX mainline signals. I need the actual style or a close matchup so if anyone's willing to help me out that would be excellent. Also some RF&P style signal gantries. In some places they use NS style gantries and Im using jointed rail's for that kinda thing. I am also using jointed rail's NS Safetran style signals for the shared CSX/NS line between the PEPCO powerplant near Minnesota Ave and the CSX/NS junction south of Alexandria. Maybe CSX uses the same style signals, I really dont know...

Thanks in advance for any insight.

Also one other thing I need is some buffers for Union Station. I cant find a good match up so if anyone can help me with these or the above item then that would be great.

Here's a shot for reference:

That looks about right (the closest thing I could find so far) but the ones here I just blunt, they dont have those European style buffers protruding from the metal bdy. Other than that the style and cover is spot on. Thanks for your help, Ill stick with that for now but if you or someone else could find or make a better one just let me know. Also you notice those little clamps on the rails behind it. I dunno what they are for but they would also be very useful to better represnt the prototype because they are there in real life.

Thanks again!

Video in the Works!

A Video Possibly.....

Alright guys, I have decided that maybe a video is in order to kind of immerse yourself into the progress of this route. I was thinking just from Washington, D.C. to New Carrolton, MD. Considering this is the only area where I have really implemented any scenery at all and driving any further than WUS in the other direction would get boring pretty fast, except for the Auto Train Terminal rollby but thats about it.

So I was thinking I would have the view from an Amtrak Northeast Regional en route to Boston. I was planning on doing it this weekend so I figured I would give myself some time to prepare. I wanted to have the AI just drive the train so that I could give you guys a more immerse video. Also if anyone could donate some announcement clippings or something like that, then I could put those in too. Maybe some radio action like: "Highball Amtrak 67!". Even though a Horizon Fleet Coach is quite unprototypical for this route it provides a great view from the car, so Ill just use that and Im gonna try to have the whole thing from the inside of the train.

Ill have some AI drivers driving some trains by us and the other way so that it will be realistic and don't worry Union Station will be as busy as Inaugeration Day. Maybe the Capitol Limited will pull in on the track right next door, and some Metros going by too.

So any assistance would be great!

Also if you have any requests for passerby traffic, then please post, nothing too outrageous please, Im trying to keep this realistic.

Also I will be using my high quality SONY Camcorder to record the actual thing. Ill try to get the lighting right and position it to look realistic. Im just not a big fan of FRAPS and infraview and stuff like that, it just isn't my cup of tea.

--EXPECT THIS SATURDAY OR SUNDAY--

P.S. Ill try redoing the Metro Track around New Carrolton too, like the way I did WUS before the video.

Thanks in advance for your continued cooperation,

Davis Strench

Sounds good, I think Ill put it on Youtube. Oh that reminds me, if anyone knows of a high quality public video hosting group, that is low hassle, that would be great, youtube is good but it isnt great!

So bryin it will be waiting when you come back.

Thanks
