Northeast Corridor Newport News, VA to Boston-South Station, MA (1024x 768 pixels)

He is making this route in 09, but after he finished he said he was going to backdate it to 06. :D

I dont think the corridor likes visitors:hehe: ...

The screenies...

This weekend I have made substantial progress on my route, espcially in the Union Staion/ Ivy City Area. Ill finish up here and then do L'Enfant and then the freight bypass and Ill regroup from there to head south to Alexandria. ANYWAYS, here we go:

This is a "before" shot of the 'ol Camden line splitting off towards Greenbelt, MD :
Screen_026.jpg

Here is a shot of the leads into Union Station. In the foreground you can spy my utilization of the "TTR Underpass" and towards the back of the shot is the Red Line New York Ave. stop (recently built) :
Screen_036.jpg

Its very bland right now but here are the WUT leads with my "custom" PRR catenary in place:
Screen_035.jpg

Here I have utilized jointedrail.com 's signals and gantry for the Camden interlocking NE of WUT :
Screen_034.jpg

More catenary work looking towards Ivy City and NY Ave. :
Screen_033.jpg

Here is an example of interlocking's extreme complexity crossed with catenary's already complex being:
Screen_032.jpg

PRR Signal Heads coming soon, here the PRR style gantry is already in place:
Screen_031.jpg

Looking north with the station behind us (more catenary in place, that was most of the work) :
Screen_030.jpg

Here is the lower level redone (as promised) it just wasnt good enough for me the first time around. I will soon rip up the upper level platforms and then lay down protoypical platforms where necessary. :
Screen_029.jpg

And finally, here is the Red Line yard in the Ivy City complex. The roofing and details are not quite completed but this took the better part of three hours to make. You guys better appreciate this!
Screen_028.jpg

Thats enough for now, I shared with you my game plan. Please comment and enjoy!

Good night,

Good night,

Looking very good! Can't wait! For the Metrorail track on ground level, might I suggest:

First, just a tip, please don't quote images. It is very annoying.

Anyway, the route is looking good. It is going to be a pain switching out all of those switchlevers.

Wow Strench, that is very nice trackwork! It shows that you've spent alot of time on this, this weekend. Thanks for sharing and I for one look forward to seeing more.

:Y:

@springtransit:
I saw that but I need matching track without the third rail for switches and dividing power districts. Thats why you see gaps in the third rail every mile or so. So if you can find cp concrete track wiht no 3rd rail that would be great.

@jadebullet:
Thanks for the comment. It will definatly be a pain switching those out. I think I am going to use the alstom concrete switch levers, they are most prototypical.

@bryinmich:
Thank you very much. It looks alot easier than it is, the tracks are so frustrating, especially how that platforms are on a 1% grade on the lower level. That took the better part of an hr just relaying all of that track.

@gandalf0444:
That looks amazing! Is that that yard in like Morris, NJ or something? Its lookin' good anyways.

@Zorronov:
I totally agree. :)

I plan to get alittle minor work done this morning before I pull out, nothing to comment on though. More screenies next weekend, probably Sunday after I have done alot of work.

Happy President's Day!

Davis

Pretty minor...

I guess I made alittle progress. One out of a bunch of platforms replaced :
Screen_037.jpg

Lets see how many I can get done.

Update:

I have inched my farther towards DC and I can now see Ivy City engine terminal so I thought it was good time for a break and re-check. The two major problems I have found are the platforms at New Carollton and the WMATA bridges.

I have replaced the New Carollton platforms with a more suitable and protoypical platform spline but the rest of the station is pretty much the same.

In regards to the WMATA bridges I have a width issue that looks severly unprototypical and was temporarily overlooked. I have got the now appropriate bridges and will implement them in the near future.

Now for some screenies:

Here we see a MARC geep cruising north on the Union Station connection:
Screen_002.jpg

Same train but now navigating Landover Interlocking:
Screen_003.jpg

The first two shots are of New Carollton with the old platforms. I should be able to get the revised pics up by morning, its just that photobucket is being unreasonably slow right now.

Hey strench are these marc locomotives reskinned GP40-2's because i tried downloading those and the content manager DLS helper said that the horns are obsolite where did you get them or did you make them your self just wondering

I agree, I think all of my pics have been quoted twice. I might just start linking them if this keeps happening because it takes forever to load each page with al my pics on twice. Just quote words or something. I may get alittle work done tonight. BTW I completely finished the upper level platforms. So next is the lower level and then the building details and roads and stuff.

Davis

i could work on the bwi station I have an uncle that's in balitmoreit a half an hour drive from where he lives he also lives very close to penn station baltimore maybe i can get him to get a few shot of those statons including west balitimore which is in between the two stations.

marinemania

BTW on those lcos is there any way to get those strobes to STOP flashing. It kinda gets annoying after a while.:confused:

Davis
No they always flash,no matter what even on the real ones...that is of course if NJT replaced the bulbs:hehe::o
Anyways please check your PMs when you get the chance.

That would be good. I live near Annapolis, MD but I never go up there more than twice a month if that. I just hop on the Acela when I get a chance but its always a rush. If you could point me in the right directio (or anyone who has some insight) as to where to find a realistic rendition of the overpass spanning the two platforms that would be great. Also I noticed they have started work on expaning the Northbound platform. Last time I rode the Acela only 3 coaches entirely fit in but the ohter side is about 9-10 cars long. BWI really needed this. Here is a pic of the overpass it is kinda unique:

If someone could nail this down for me I would put the scenery on hold and build track up to here (obviously including intermediate MARC stops). Then Ill do scenery back down to WUT and then southward onto (eventually) Newport News, VA.

Thanks

Davis
