Hello Everyone,
I have started work on the NEC and would like to share some screenshots with you. Please comment and critique, as well if you have any questions please dont' hesitate to ask.
First off;
Here is a shot of the leads into CSX's Acca Yard which is near Richmond, VA:

Here is a very zoomed out view of Acca Yards, to the left you can see the leads and wye that trains take en route to florida i.e. silver service trains:
Here is a shot of Newport News, VA's quaint little station, which is also the end of the line for all Regional Service trains:
Here is the leads to the Auto Trains Lorton Facilities:
Looking north from the platform at the locomotive and auto carrier facilities. You can see the mainline branching Norhteast on the right hand side:
Here is a similar view looking north from the loading rack's perspective:
Looking south from the little shed that the Auto Train's P42DCs layover in:
Looking North from Washington D.C. Union Stations' upper platforms. The lower level platforms ascending are the tracks on the right. I haven't got the chance to add the Metro (WMATA) tracks yet:

Here is a shot of the interlocking about a 1/4 mile north of Union station for switching into the Ivy City Facilities:
Here is a shot from the flyover from the line to Chicago to the MARC Camden Line. This is a look at VRE's area of the Ivy City facilities. You can see the tracks funneling under the bridge at the bottom of the screen which then spread back out for the Amtrak/MARC facilities:

A shot of a Southbound regional going on the wrong track through Landover interlocking. After interlocking the left two tracks split oof to the bypass and pop out to 3 tracks. This reginal is about to lose elcetricity

Hello, I like your screenies, I must admit that being a Brit, I enjoyed the NEC layout from 2004 from Philadelphia to Wilmington, Delaware, on the DLS, it's one of my all time favourite routes from the States. Are you doing the whole length of the route please, as it's quite a long one from what I've seen on the internet and read in books ??
And looking at your pics I presume you are creating it for TRS2009 also ??

I will, but thats still a long way away.

Yes, it will be for TS2009 but I will backdate it to TRS2006. That layout was very nice for its day and I hope to use it as a refernece because its very accurate but I am going to use improved track and have alittle more detail. Yes, I will be doing the whole route. It is alittle over 650 miles, I believe, I would have to check though.

Davis, I must say that is awesome looking so far! One thing I want to tell you is this: make sure you BACKUP THE ROUTE. I cannot tell you how many times I have lost big projects due to Vista. Luckily I have switched over to Windows XP, so no more problems with that. But please, back up the route to a safe and secure location (like another computer or an external hard drive or flash drive) so you don't end up like me and other people who have lost big projects. :'( :'(

Also guys, I need some good trees. The ones Im using right now are crap. If you could geta spline or group that would be great because laying individual trees over such a tree filled distance might make me go insane.

I have run into another problem. As some of you may know there is a freight bypass around DC. When conrail and PRR were using it they electrified it with PRR style catenary. Well nowdays CSX owns and maintains it. CSX has taken the wires that are used by the locomotive off but have left the farme as well as the powerlines at the top.
Notice how the frame is till there as well as powerlines up at the top. Its on the left:
So if anyone can tell me how to remove the lower wires or can do it for me on the 3 track tall, 4 track tall and 3 track w/o overhead lines that would be great. Here is a pic of the standard 3 track w/o overhead lines or powerlines:
When I ever go into the config files and delete the lines the space where they were turns up balck or white like so:

You could of course model way-back in history, when the RR actually used the cantenary to power GG-1's...and also use alot more old classic steam locos ! Thats when RR's, were RR's...the wayback days..."Sherman" (Rocky & Bullwinkle Show). I enjoy modeling RR's from 1850-1970 eras.

There's an idea but they have rearranged that tracks and ripped up so much it would be really hard to figure it out. Im sticking with multimap.

Replace the texture for the wires with a completely transparent one. That ought to work.
(I'm assuming that this route includes the line through Alexandria, south of DC? Because then my school would be clearly visible from the tracks...)
(also, HOLY CRAP THIS IS THE CLOSEST ANYONE HAS COME YET TO PULLING OFF THE NEC!)
