Starting Work on Union Station 2.0:

Hello All!

I have decided to redo all of Union Station. This (and Baltimore will be) is one of the biggest attractions on the route and the other one just didn't quite cut it for me. Utilising...

-Updated Station Blueprints
-Track Charts
-Signalling Charts
-Head End Footage (By me! )
-Other photos taken by myself

...I am ready to take on the task of Washington Union Station again. This time I am focusing on the trackwork and all of the real grades are there as well!

Here's what I got this morning, it takes a while because trackwork is a b**ch to get right:

Looking North towards the throat tracks:

The tracks on the upper level actually go up a grade they are not flat and the South Bumpers are the highest trackage in WUS. Platform tracks are also meausred:

More construction on the upper level leads:

Northern end of K Interlocking, I just threw up the signal bridge haphazardly to get positioning right, the bridge is in the right spot just put up unevenly for now:

Three ladder tracks going the same way all with double slip switches, this station has ALOT of track!

More switchwork:

Davis, where'd you get the tracks for the redone DCUS? I need track like that except in a brown or similar colored ballast.

All from USLW.

There are packs of this track, different ballast colors, different quality levels (i.e. 2-D/3-D, chunky/non-chunky). Some also have flange squeal sounds. All credit goes to slave-driver.

They are on multiple pages:

Hope that helps!

Hey Davis,

Just wondering when your going to start the track from Providence to Boston.. Also, your building this route in 2010, Correct? Just updated.. Providence to Boston should be fairly difficult....

for trackwork only the Boston South Station Terminal Area really and the Providence MoW base/Layover Facility.

Okay photobucket refuses to work so I switched to Flickr.

Anyways:

The upper level's track has been done (not pictured is the GPO spur but that's done as well) :

The lower level is well on its way as well at this point.
