Northeast Corridor, anyone ?

Why not? My friend gave me a tour of Union Staion in November 07. He is the stationmaster. He took me in the cab of a p42, acela and many others. He also took me to ivy city. I have many pics.

What I would like to, but cannot do :
- Add backdrops along the route on each side
.. so I will just leave 2 Baseboards textured and sparely vegetated on each side of the Rail Tracks (as performance allows it, when the main part of the route is done)

There is a do-it-yourself backdrop maker on the DLS I beta tested awhile back. It's easy to use and is quite good, btw. Not sure why you say you cannot do...
The features I liked the most was the see through invisible back side so when you're zooming around your layout, you're not hindered by a double sided wall.
I also liked the no limit adjusting in all directions including up and down.
Search under, jost62. I believe it's for '06 and not sure it'll work in '04.

Yeah, I walked around there got to see Acela, P42, HHP-8, and Metroliner Control car cab. He toured me on the Eagles special charter train and that was on the back of it. I also, got to blow a VRE F40ph's horn! As well as alot of other stuff I can't really tell you about. You can e-mail me pic requests and I might try to find ones where it's not too revealing (i.e. acela engine room).

is there any NEC content for trainz right now?? it seems that everyone is interested in making csx diesels for ts2006 and no NEC content. and even when i do find some NEC content, its always faulty. like on trainz commuter rail, all of there routes have missing dependencies. why TCR, WHY????

There's a Philly to Wilmington portion that has been around awhile that's actually a part of TS12. There's also a DC-Baltimore section by wridenour that is half-complete, with the Baltimore area scenery done but tracks all the way to DC.

Sorry not really our problem that you cannot locate missing dependencies. That is the end users responsibility. The fact that I even made list of where to get the dependencies for some of my routes is a bonus. I spent many hours working in surveyor just to make the route. If I don't want to spend many more finding where I found the assets I used then that is my prerogative. Seems everyone else can find most of the dependencies to other routes across the world wide web, except you.

Speaking of missing dependencies, these are missing from the Washington-Wilmington segment by wridenour:

I'm bumping this post because I still need some of these dependencies. <kuid:106916:10409>, <kuid2:45324:38018:1>, and <kuid2:45324:38024:3> are also needed for drchoi21's Secaucus Junction route.

where were you able to install MSTS from?

I installed MSTS about a week ago and just cannot stop running the Acela from Washington to Philadelphia.
I also asked if anyone was doing the route for TRS, but it seems not, so I took the liberty and am trying to get it done in my sparce free time.

Today I played around for 3 hours with DEMs and HOGs and 1 hour with Basemaps and this is what I got so far :

The entire Washington DC area 30m DEM correct terrain and Basemapped Google images for accurate Track and Object placement.
Not too bad for about 4 hours work, what do you think ?
In the second picture you can see in the foreground at Washington's Union Station that I begun laying some basic track, just for testing now.

But do not expect too much yet, as I have almost no free time (because of work and life) this is probably going to take ages to complete.
Maybe I was just thinking I'll show what can be done in such a short time with the tools we have at hand and it's late already, so I go to bed now and leave you mouth-watering and craving for more with these 2 screenshots :D .

I also took a look at TransDEM, but as I am not even sure if I will finish this project I don't think I should shell out 20 € for it when there are excellent freeware tools out there.

Any kind of feedback is welcome.
Considered release date : Unknown :hehe:

This thread will be updated with new screenshots as I get things done.

Hey this is engineerkenny and i was woundering were you got MSTS and also was it free and was there just a direct download with no other needs?

New Amtrak route

Ok that looks cool, that will do:D
Hi guys I found you're thread and I just published a route that goes from NYC to white sulfur springs west Virginia. It's not totally finished but soon it will go to Chicago Illinois. It is called cardinalv1. Cardinalv2 and 3 are going to be up within the year.

Your welcome,

Travis

Where did you publish the route at, Travis? It's really that long is it real mileage or is it not to scale? You really made the entire southern portion of the NEC from NY to Washington and Virginia? Fishlips-Paul had a blank DEM from Philly to Washington on his site, but his site is down. His Philly to NY DEM is on the DLS. Did you just publish the route today somewhere? It's for TS12?

I just downloaded it on DLS but it's not a route, it's a session. Where's the route?

To answer both of your questions it is a session not a route. Sorry about that. If there are any problems with that please let me know. Also I think the session might be smaller than the real thing but I'm not sure. All I know is that the map does correspond to the real one

Here is the link:
trainz://install/%3CKUID:624480:100011%3E

If that doesn't work just search cardinalv1 on the dls.

Travis

How do you use a session by itself? It's installed, but where do I find it in Trainz or how do I use it? I know you can save a route as a session.

First go to content manager. Search cardinalv1 then when you find it click view in and then click surveyer.
Once you are in surveyer click the drive button. That should do it. You might want to save your session so you won't have to do this again.

Thanks for trying my session,
Travis

P.S: if this doesn't work i will try to make a route with the session. However it might take a long time.

It says map is missing or damaged during the load screen. What do I do now? There is an error in CMP, Error: Dependency <kuid:624480:100012> is unknown.
